I would try and get an indication of the VAT and import duty you may
have to pay in order to get an indication of the true price. I have heard that customs duty and VAT is variable as to whether you get charged, some have some haven't. I have bought some graphite products from the US only to be hit by the duties 3 month later. Nice DHL quick delivery so you get your items but deferred charging for the taxes, didn't know about that. Also got a product from the US as I couldn't get the quality I required in the UK, the postage from the US cost more than the product and the product wasn't cheap and the product wasn't heavy either. I don't have a "manual" on the Weller 100P at the moment, but it seems to me the company specifically says not to use a controller with this iron. As soon as my new one gets here, I'll check the packaging to be sure. Well, it came today. No mention of a controller, one way or the other. Only mentioned 600,700, and 800 tips, but did give the model # for the Euro 220v version. Apparently you should be looking for a W60P (D) version. No problem - I think I've located (stateside)a good deal on a 100W (110v) iron - which, even with postage, is still going to be a good bit cheaper than buying the UK version over here. I have 110v in the studio - so that'll work fine.... The same supplier also carries the "Twofer" ultra-fine grinder heads, so I can sort out my sawn edges on my fused glass .... just waiting for a combined price incl shipping.... Looking forward to the new iron - thanks all for the advice Adrian Suffolk UK ======return email munged================= take out the papers and the trash to reply |

You mean in the entire US of A you can't find a single 900 tip for
your Weller? We've been using them in Canada for more than 15 years. Perhaps, like your buddy Buttscraper, you didn't even know they existed? Could it be true? You're not jesting? ....you fellas are still dicking about soldering at 700 degrees? I always thought that was just for teaching students. Thanks for the offer of an iron, but I still have a collection of Hexacons with a couple more decades of life left in them. |

How about providing a valid Weller stock number for these alleged 900*F tips, dick cheese? These would be for the Weller 100P Series irons. Put up or shut up. |

Buttscraper's ignorance of not only the availability but even the
existence of 900 tips is of no concern to me - in fact it serves to provide incontestable proof of how much of a rank amateur the creature is. I recommend our "Soldering Clinic" classes to be held next September in Victoria. We can not only demonstrate Weller 900 tips, we can even teach how to improve soldering skills sufficient to use them at the speed required. We have a full set of Weller tips for Weller 100 irons. Got the 600, 700, 800, and 900 (that's the one with the line under the 9). Come visit us and see out collection. |

Like I said, dick cheese, put up or shut up. You are a complete void, surrounded by a sphincter muscle. And a lying one, at that. |

This is precious. Buttscraper, the self-proclaimed expert on
everything about stained glass is so blessed ignorant he isn't even aware that 900 tips exist. Priceless. Dennis Brady DeBrady Glass http://www.debrady.com Victorian Art Glass http://www.victorianartglass.biz Glass Campus http://www.glasscampus.com |

I found the DHL handling charge quite small and thought it reasonable, I
have heard UPS is quite expensive in this regard and would agree from my experience. Post a link to any legitimate website, anywhere, where this tip is for sale. Put up or shut up. Prove me wrong. Win an argument, which would be a first for you. You might even get a shred of credibility....Lord knows you need some. Pathetic turd. |

Why would I care about winning an argument with an ignorant illiterate?
You've demonstrated nothing more than the ability to post childish insults on an internet board - while I've taught several hundred people how to do stained glass, about a thousand how to make a living selling crafts, sold multi-thousand books on how to do stained glass, and tens of thousands of stained glass pattern books - all while creating a hugely successful international business selling finished stained glass and supplies. It has however been highly entertaining (for my entire shop crew) reading your posts insisting on the non-existence of 900 tips while we sit here looking at a bunch of them (Do you think maybe Weller screwed up and put the line in the wrong place? It's definitely under the 9. Maybe you think we just have a bunch of mislabelled 6's?). Perhaps the most entertaining was your comment about how 700 degrees was more than adequate - while our practice has for years been to trash the 700 tips whenever a new iron is removed from it's package. Even our beginners go straight to 800's. There's still room in our "Soldering Clinic" class. If you can't afford to travel to Victoria (are you permitted access to Canada?), we'll very soon be offering a video-clip filled online class (see link below to Glass Campus). In the meantime, my crew and I look forward to reading more of your "interesting" commentary. We're all taking bets on when all that jealous antagonism makes your head explode. I'm down for July 4th.
