silk mori
Kreinik “Silk Mori” – Disappointing quality- No we do not stock this
thread. Silk Mori comes in pretty colors, and from a distance it looks like Soie d’Alger. Up close the difference is easy to see. Not only does Silk Mori have a looser twist than the other stranded silks, it actually untwists as you stitch with it. Both on the skein and stranded it has a very rough look to it, and an irregular waviness. It is also less smooth to the touch. This affects the look of cross-stitches and satin stitches with; both have a bumpy appearance. A strand of Silk Mori breaks more easily than does Needlepoint Inc. The overall impression is of a thread that is brittle and lacking in integrity. Finally, the color selection is not very extensive, although Kreinik is adding shades. If you have a chart that calls for Silk Mori we would be happy to convert the color/numbers to another brand of silk. Soie d’Alger would be the best because the colors are most similar. OH BOTHER ! |
