I lived with some people who repeatedly gave LSD to this cat -- the poor,
addled thing. Starting when it was a kitten.

I met a catling whose mother had been given LSD while pregnant-- it was the
only kit born. Very strange animal... never got beyond kitten sized, liked to
sleep in the pool table pockets-- the only way people knew it was there was
when the balls didn't roll down to the return. Had strange "fits", too. (Its
people hand raised it after the mother rejected it; the mother recovered with
no known ill effects to herself. A neighbor kid had "shared" the LSD with her
while on his own "trip").
The catling was truely an "it", or at least, couldn't be "sexed", even by the
vet.

I volunteer to kick him. Hard. With boots on. You know where.

Yes, it does and I think about Daisy quite often. Maybe she is better off.
She was all alone behind their garage all those years.

Why do people even get dogs if they aren't going to let them be inside
with their folks? I understand putting a dog out in the yard during the
day, weather permitting (heck, my MOM used to put me outside during the
day, weather permitting) but what on earth is the joy of having a dog
you never spend time with? I mean, I only nominally "spend time" with
Penny (she sleeps all the time) but at least she's physically here with
me.

I'm so sorry JoJo. I think many of us on this forum are animal lovers. I
had to put two dogs down this year and it almost killed me. I had to
physically put down a cockatiel in Alaska myself because we were so far from
anyone and the vets did not work on birds. The bird came to me with a
cocaine addiction. Why do people do that to animals? Anyhow, I feel your
pain and you are not alone.

People who do that think it's somehow "funny" to inflict their own
addictions on their pets. It makes them feel normal, I suppose.

Unfortunately we did not get our shorthair fixed before our lab and he
decided to make puppies. She is due in September and we've never had
puppies. My friend raises Chihuahuas and a Yorkies so she will be able to
help us. I will definitely charge an adoption fee. On the plus side both
our dogs are great hunters and I think the pups will be good. If we can
find hunter that would be the ultimate.

Now I can't use our lab for the September dove season. :-( She is the best
dog for me and she is a lover. We got her and Trinkett three weeks apart.
They are both my best friends. Anyhow, please be sending good vibes our way
because I want her to have a smooth labor. I would hate to lose her because
we were stupid. Not her.

This is what always gets me, too, Kalera. It's the free-puppy factor.

They're
oh-so-cute, and free. In other words -- NEVER give puppies away free!

(Plus,
that's where laboratory animals ultimately come from.) ALWAYS charge a

fee.
