Prednisone round has ended after six weeks worth. And now I am breaking
out in itchy spots all over again, more every day. And I'm ON my new
diet too. What IS this stuff? So thoughts and prayers appreciated. I
need to figure out what is causing this. Quickly.

IANAMD, but IMO it's likely a side effect of coming off pred, and
should subside within a few days (at most). Hang in there. By all
means, put in a call to your doctor's office and ask.

Prayers will be sent. That sounds miserable. Can the docs culture the
spots
and determine what they are?
I'm asking because my sister is on a large-dose regime of Prednisone
for bad
liver function. It's interfered with her immune system and caused her
to
break out also. Once they finally cultured hers they got the right
antibiotic
to treat it.

Hi Sherry,

Different circumstances - your sister has a side effect of being ON
pred; Karen's is a result of coming OFF of pred. Sometimes the effect/
result can be the same - other times not.

GENERAL ADVICE for EVERYONE:
Pick up a copy of the PDR Pocket Guide to Prescription Drugs for your
home medical library (about $9 US) - an invaluable reference with info
the docs never tell you about what you're taking. Also: Read those
drug information sheets with all the fine print that come with your
prescriptions - they've got important info too. IME, it's surprising
how many folks never read those things...

I hope you figure it out soon. That prednisone can be nasty stuff
sometimes.

Oh, Karen! I do hope this goes away very quickly -- I just can't imagine
how frustrating it must be to be dealing with yet another problem.
{{{Hugs}}} -- gentle ones, just in case.

I'm breaking out in itchy spots too. but in my case it's bug bites.

Sounds like it's time to see your doctor again.
