Porcelli Lampmaking video

Bought this a couple weeks back but I haven't really been home much to
watch it. Finally checked it out this morning. I haven't done a
Tiffany lamp yet but it looked really thorough and impressive. I was
happy that he didn't go over a bunch of beginner stuff that I already
know. There were several things that surpised me a little.

First he uses three sizes of copper tape, 3/16" and the one on either
side, depending on the thickness of the glass. I just figured that
you chose one size for a lamp and that's what you went with.

Second, I was surprised that he didn't mark around the pattern piece
onto the glass. He just held the pattern piece onto the glass and cut
around it.

Third was a real epiphany for me. He used Kokomo glass and he showed
the full sheets before he started cutting them. I was stunned. At
least one of them was a blotchy horrible mess of red and green and
white and brown. I thought it ugly. But when he laid out the
patterns on the glass and cut it and pieced it together, I saw how the
blending of the several colors in the one sheet gave the design depth
and complexity. I realized that my idea of stained glass work was a
childish coloring book approach with solid pink for the flowers, green
for the leaves, and sky blue.

It is indeed! Thank you for sharing. They had an interesting way of
transferring the patterns to the glass.
