Default FFS--Frequent frogging syndrome

I think I have FFS--frequent frogging syndrome. Last year around August
I started knitting again, and in that time made 8 scarves, three hats,
one bead-knitted pendant bag (with a kumihimo strap--which I did four
different times to get one that looked really "right" with the bag) and
1 half of a another beadknitted bag. This second beadknitted bag
involved elaborate bead counting, and I discovered nearly half way
through that I had made a major error, so rip-it, rip-it, rip-it I did
(and recount, recount, recount), and now I have completed the first side
of the bag. Since about March, everything I start I rip out, except for
what I call the accidental moebius, which is sort of a moebius with a
double twist which has a future as a hair ornament. I can't get the hang
of circular needles, and I'm frustrated that I can never seem to sign up
for the socks class at the right time at my LYS.

I'm not sure what exactly is going on with me. Call me the kneurotic
knitter.

Most recently, I started the sideways scarf from this website, mentioned
months ago on rcty: http://www.heartstringsfiberarts.com/complpat.htm.
After practicing the stitches on junk worsted weight yarn, I started
it with my green alpaca/silk/wool handpainted yarn, then decided that I
didn't have enough yarn. Now I'm working on it again, using off-white
lace weight mohair that I have. I'm thinking when I get to the
Honeycomb stripe, I may use the green alpaca/silk/wool stuff there,
which will make some textural interest. I have some handspun angora in
a soft green which would go, too, so now I'm thinking I'll make the
middle stripe out of that. I'm liking this idea. This is the most
elaborate thing that I've made for myself, the only other things I've
made for myself were hats. Maybe if I make something I really like for
myself, that will help me move forward.

Madelaine, first of all you certainly get an A for effort. You are not
giving up...therefore you will get there in the end. We all start over,
and rip out while knitting and certainly for me, when I am braiding. I
find at times that one end of the braiding has moved mysteriously to the
next group of warp ends. So back we go and rebraid again. Bingo I now
have all my ends mixed up.....fresh start and a cup of coffee and we start
again. In the end I do get there, it just took a bit langer.

I would love to see the finnished side of your bag and I am sure feel a
affinity with a kneurotic knitter ..LOL

Keep at it.

Madelaine,

The same thing happens in crocheting too. It took me five times to get one row
of ripple done and done right, just couldn't count to six, now it's coming
along all right

Hugs,

Nora
