Default OT Need Info on San Diego Mass Transit

(Remove knot with net to reply)

My mother and I are headed to San Diego in a couple of weeks on a hit
and run visit. We have a hotel that is one block from the flea market at
the Sports complex. DS did not get married at Christmas as FDil's visa
did not come through yet. She is from Japan and will be coming to visit
DS. He is stationed in SD and will be going back to Japan in a couple of
months. They hope to have all the paper work in place for a wedding
later this year.

We want to take them out to dinner as none of the family has met Ayako.
(But I don't want to crowd their precious time together) I was thinking
of the Casa DiBandini (???Spelling) but the last time I was there was in
1984. The big question is that my mother wants to see the Hotel del
Coronado. Is there bus transportation from Old Town to Coronado, or
should I rent a car? My mother is hoping to have a few button collecting
friends meet her for a meal or two and of course we will go to the flea
market. I am hoping to soak up some warmth, read and stitch. I am
soooooo tired of the cold in NH.

So if anyone in the SD area would be so kind to email me off list I
would be very appreciative.

To reply remove the knot with a net.

There is a bus that runs across the bridge, though you'll have to go from Old
Town into downtown to get on it. Really no big deal ... except on weekends
when this bus runs once an hour and that bus runs once an hour, and you end up
sitting around for 45 minutes between buses.

SD Transit has a good website with a computerized trip planner, so you can tell
it where you're starting and where you want to go, and it will tell you how to
get there, schedules, etc.

There are also taxis - lots of taxis. I was just in San Diego for
ALA. The best way I found to get a cab was to go to a large hotel
where taxis cruise by for fares. A hotel could call you one. The
fares seemed quite reasonable to me (almost any taxi other than my
hometown seems reasonable.)
