Its a car rental/truck rental business. So mostly get sued for car
accidents etc... I think the most interesting was when a women who was
riding in her full size conversion van was rear ended by our Ford
Aspire. She claimed loss of consortiism (spelling) and wanted $350k
plus. There was no damage to our car at all. They claimed their
bumper needed to be replaced so $500 in damage at the time.
I used to rent Uhauls and some of the lawsuits were over someone
dropping a trailer on their toe, hurting their back taking the trailer
off their truck etc...

Oh and my nickname was supposed to be Kookedgoose... I was kinda
thinking of using torcherchamber but couldn't make it funny. lolol

Oh the van was rear ended in a Taco Bell parking lot going less then
5mph. I forgot to put that in there. He (customer) dropped his soda and
bumped into the van in front of him when he took his foot off the
brake.

I was wondering why you asked about your name... I was thinking "Yes,
Heidi is a lovely name... why..?" LOL!

I would imagine that car rental places probably get sued more than any
other type of business... it's just the nature of the beast. How
stressful! You must have nerves of steel.

I hope you can post links to some of your bead-related goodies, I wanna
see.

OK, THAT is funny! Did you settle, or did it go to court? I can imagine
a judge's reaction to that...

I know if you are using Google to read and post, you can remove your
own posts. Just click on "show options" and between "Show original" and
"Report Abuse" there is an option to remove your own post. As far as I
can tell, the original post in this thread is missing.

Not ever having been involved with starlia, I can't comment on her
business practices, but the pulling out a faux attorney as back up is
one of the oldest ploys known on the internet, and never speaks well
for the person they are backing up. Also spamming people with faux
supporters is another well know tactic, and also doesn't speak well for
the person they are supporting. It's amazing how these supporters
seldom, if ever, have an account with paid ISP. Hotmail seems to be a
perennial favorite, as is Yahoo and AOL. Now if they were from Comcast,
or Verizon, or Earthlink...

I have never had a case that actually went to trial. They have all been
settled.

She settled for less than $10k (I think it was 5k) and had to pay her
own attorney fees. I felt sorry for the customer since I am sure it
was his first lawsuit. I think he was 21. I am sure he freaked out to
be sued for over 350k.

To Mr. Minter (or whoever): Have you looked he
http://snipurl.com/g9x1
That might be a good starting place. Starlia now uses a different eBay
ID, possibly because the rating for saucybeads kind of took a downhill
turn. She's now using klopman_studios.

You know Tink my respect for you and others on this group has really taken a
downhill turn... I can't believe all the negative energy that has been
released over this issue - especially from you since you stated that your
problems have been resolved. I think it's really unfair to post the link
above because it is very misleading. To read the full feedback click he

Not quite as damning as the link you posted seemed to be...

So it certainly looks like she's turned over a new leaf, doesn't it?

I still say, people that have had problems need to resolve them with the
seller, the auction site, or take whatever legal means they deem necessary,
but rec.crafts.beads is NOT the place to crucify a fellow beader. If you
don't like someone, killfile them. But this public slaughtering of another
person's reputation is just wrong. It needs to stop now.

*snip*

I preferred to stay out of it, but Starlia was making public
statements about what transpired between us, and I feel I was well
within the bounds of appropriate behavior when I posted what happened.
I posted unemotionally and factually, pulling dates and such from
original documents.

I think folks here realize that I don't post willy-nilly, nor do I
jump into things to be hurtful or mean. With that in mind, I would
hope that my decision to post stands as evidence of how important I
felt it was to do so.

I respectfully submit that if reading the thread causes you discomfort
that you might take your own advice and killfile it or, at the very
least, refrain from reading it. As always, there is a LOT more to this
situation than is evident in the public threads. Things are not always
what they seem.

No, not really, because she is still doing things that seem unethical
to me.

Why - because you say so? We're discussing it because people *have*
tried to contact her, and she's failed to respond. When a business
fails to provide adequate customer service, you don't keep quiet about
it to avoid hurt feelings - you talk about it so other people don't
have to go through the same thing. It's called word of mouth, and is a
basic principle in business.

Karleen, Starlia posted her side of the story publicly. It doesn't seem
unreasonable for Tink to tell hers.

I posted what I had to say publicly for what I believe are obvious
reasons. I don't have a tale to tell, just disillusionment and loss of
trust. Why am I being told to keep that to myself?

Yes, there is a lot of negative energy being aired... but it was there
before, just unspoken. As for her reputation, it is now what it was
before, but being discussed in public rather than private.
