Default Poly Clay/ wicked Candace

I have only recently realized what awesome beads you can make from poly clay
(by reading this newsgroup and following links). So it's on my I gotta do next
list. Then Candace just goes and gets clay and starts to make BEADS! Just like
that! So now I am obsessing. I am going through more and more sites, reading
instructions, looking at galleries, trying to put off buying clay until I see
what's left in the bank account. Ahhk. I think about Candace just getting clay
and making some beads... So I went out and bought some clay yesterday, it's on
my table, and I am afraid to touch it...Candace, tell me that you have made
more beads and get me over the last hump into the new obsession, making beads
from poly clay. It's all your fault I got this far, LOL!

Does anyone one else get hung up like this, taking the final plunge?

Fiddy, DO IT!! But I strongly suggest taking a class. PMC requires odd
techniques so it doesn't collapse it the kiln/hot pot, or fall apart, or just
not work. You really need to take a class -- but they're popping up
everywhere. Google it for your area -- I KNOW there are some down there.

Fortunately, my long holiday weekend includes Tuesday and
Wednesday...and a box of stuff I ordered from PMC Supply

I'll either post pics of my results here, or a rant about "stupid PMC!" g.

I wanted to take a class before I tried anything, but couldn't afford a
class *and* supplies, so I'll be giving it a shot on my own. Wish me luck!

Cheers,
Carla

PMC is pretty easy to learn on your own. I'm not saying I'm good with it
but the little that I've tried hasn't been bad. There are so many online
resources it's easy to find all kind of blends and cane recipes. Have fun!

Do you mean PMC (precious metal clay) or polymer clay?

I meant Precious Metal Clay. I got the HotPot, got some tools, and a
little tiny bit of clay, and I'm going to *try* making a ring...I think g.

I've been playing with polymer clay for a few months now; results are
nowhere near what Candace is doing (in such a short time!), but I'm
having loads of fun with it.

Cheers,
Carla

PC is easy to learn on your own and make canes from. PMC is the silver. So
very easy to mix up those two's initials. I do not advise self teaching for
PMC. It has some quirks, and the material is too expensive for a lot of
goofs.

Break open that clay, take a pinch.. mush it..squish it!!! make a little
ball... flatten it... now take a second color... mush that.. .squish it!
make another ball.. pinch it into a little ducky... smooosh those two colors
together.. twist and skew it around...
Its inexpensive. You cant waste it... it just becomes mud and thats valuable
too!
Which brand did you get?
You are DOOMED!!! lol...
