I need to recommend to a friend which lovely white cotton is the very best
for printing photographs. It's not something I've done in a long while and
I only remember that it was Kona or Kona Bay. It was a smooth, finely woven
perfect surface. Anyone remember? I'm sure I've written it down but it
would take an awful (truly awful) lot of hunting to find my notes. Polly

Hi Polly

I have successfully used kona cotton white for printing photographs.
Done several projects using this and they all came out great and are
lasting.

Hope this helps

Sorry Polly - I can't help. But I'm busting to know what the difference
is between Kona and Kona Bay? I just bought some perfectly beeootiful
white Kona cotton which does have (as you say above) a perfect surface.

Scratchin' me head... ;D

I got lucky. There's Kona and there's Kona Bay. They 'may' be the same
thing. May not. Anyhow, my note from 2006 says Kona BAY is the one for
printing photographs. We could research manufacturers and thread count and
the Egyptians for days but would rather be quilting. Polly

Kona is a 'beefy' rather heavy cotton fabric. I love it for quilts
where I want to use solid colors and for 'using' quilts for it's
durability. Kona Bay is the delightfully smooth and lovely cotton
Polly described.

Aha. Thanks, Leslie. Everybody write that down. Where you can find it;
it's important. Now, Leslie. Did you name the sweet fur face? Polly

Kona cotton can be ordered from www.fabricdepot.com - they have a
wonderful store and wonderful customer service. They carry the white
and black Kona cotton in 6 yard 'bolts'.

I buy it all the time for Project Linus volunteers to color (with
Crayola Fabric Markers). Yes, it's more expensive than muslin, but
it has a nice firm weave and the drawn/colored pictures look so much
nicer on the Kona cotton than on muslin.

I'm so glad you said this, Leslie. I have been looking for white
fabric, and saw a Kona white - I thought it was good from what I have
seen on here. I didn't want it to be flimsy or delicate (for the altar
cloths), so this Kona one will be just fine. Thanks. Now I'll just try
to remind myself to order it. Heavens! It's bedtime and I feel as if I
had only just got up gg

I just received an email today that Z & S Fabrics currently has Kona Cottons
on sale. They don't appear to have all colors. If you're interested,
here's the link: http://www.zandsfabrics.com/ I'm not affiliated....etc.
etc.

That is important info indeed!
If she has named him "The High and Mighty Lord Bunnybutt St. Bananas"
I shall have to hike on out there and spank her.
I have a list of much better names than that.
You know I do.
