ATTENTION: quilters close to Tacoma
I just happened to be watching a program on PBS this evening and was busy
when it was over so I wasn't near the remote to switch channels. Glad I wasn't. There was a great program about the Quilters of Gees Bend. Wonderful! I've seen programs on these quilting women before and never tire of learning more of their history. Then they announce that there is an exhibit of these quilts at the Tacoma Art Museum. "Gee's Bend: The Architecture of the Quilt" It will run through December 9th. I hope anyone in the Western Washington area can get to the museum to see it. http://www.tacomaartmuseum.org/page.asp?view=425 Val |

ATTENTION: quilters close to Tacoma
DH brought me the press release on this and we already have plans to
travel to Tacoma for the exhibit in November. I'm so excited. I am a child of the south.... my first job was in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, right on the delta near the Mississippi and Louisiana borders. I met so many women there who had quilts with bright, incredible patterns on them -- just thrown across a sofa or on an old chair. Amazing people working to survive overwhelming hardship. Well, I'm going and looking forward to it immensely. Sunny |

We are planning to go also, at some point. Mind you, there was also a
neat show going on at the same time from my newer guild, CQA - The evolution of the quilt (http://www.contemporaryquiltart.com/...eArtQuilt.htm), I can't figure out if it was just last weekend though - I should know but since I am new and don't have any quilts in I didn't pay attention. also, I missed the last meeting....
