I just got a message from sil. Her house is still standing. WOOHOO!
She said they are still at risk but so far so good. She told dh to
keep praying with an addition of 'a lot'. Thank you for every one
sending thoughts and prayers. The displaced folks and the emergency
workers all can use them. There are a lot of people involved.

This is very good news, Taria -- thanks for updating us, and I hope her
home continues to be safe, as well as the other homes in the area.

DS was in the area that the big number of burned homes in the SD
fire is. He and the other police were evacuating and helping where
they could. They were able to save some homes with water hoses while
clearing people from the area. He told me he and his partner found
a dog in front of a burned home that was crouched under a sprinkler
that had been left on. They were able to get him to safety with animal
control folks. He said it was the saddest thing he has ever seen.
Animals and pets can use your thoughts too.

Poor little thing! I hope it was a matter of the dog's owners not being
able to get home to evacuate him, rather than them just abandoning him.

One of the police dispatchers had to help dispatch help to the 300
unit apartment complex that was her home. You might have seen the news
man in front of his just burned home. Many of what are burning are not
rural. A lot in neighborhood tracts that are not on top of woodlands
and have been there for a lot of years.

Yes, I saw the bit about the house belonging to the reporter. So sad.

Hopefully the winds will die down soon.
Thanks again folks, TAria

My fingers are crossed .... DH's aunt lives in Escondido, and DD's best
friend lives nearby. We're worried, of course.

DH just talked to his sil and she has evacuated her home. She can't get
too far but is at the church praying. Her home burned in '03 and has fire
on two sides again. (yep, I know why did she build there but that is not
the point now) She lost her husband (dh's bro) in January and has had a
time for several years now. She can really use your prayers
about now. There are several firefighters in SD county in critical
condition that can well use your prayers too.
TIA, Taria

I'm a little late chiming in, but she has my prayers all the same. I've
been praying for those with homes in the area, and all those trying to stop
the fires since I heard about them. Do keep us updated on how she is doing
please.

Taria, so glad your sil is okay, as well as her home. There's a lot of
heartache in California right now. Will continue to hope for decreased
winds, and help putting out the fires.
