besides, how is it going to be an original and ~KK~ true quilt if it

looks
perfect with points like every other HST top out there huh? yeah....

that's
it..... original! me! mine! no two alike! Yup that is my theory alright!

The
rest of you can conform to those perfect point people and just blend in,

not
me, no way, I gotta be me!!!

Sounds like you need the book "That Dorky Homemade Look". I read it on a
plane recently, and it was sure hard not to laugh outloud.

One of her principles is that she has no respect for anyone who can only
make triangles that have three sides. Another is that if you don't cut off
at least half your triangle points, you're just showing off.

I loved the part where she was told to sort her fabric by "mood", so she

got
out every piece of her stash, talked to it to find out what mood it was

in,
and discovered that most of her fabric was just plain cranky.

Seems to me if you can truly embrace the philosophy of being original by
eschewing perfect points, you're all set to become an art quilter.

Welcome!
(bwa ha ha ha ha!!!!!)

Repelling points... I see something to that theory!

she made these evil triangles!

Sorry I can't be of any help because my points don't match either :-)

Some
are so far off you would think they are repelled.

Now as for triangles, I avoid them like the plague and sew squares on the
diagonal - both sides of the cutting line whether I need the extra hst or
not; those spare hst must be good for something sometime, right?

Awww...you poor thing! Maybe you need to get a book by that quilter who
makes everything wonky on purpose -- no points, nothing matching -- and
it all turns out looking great. What's her name? I can't remember, but I
think she sticks a Z at the end of almost every word....

I was told by an elderly quilter than I, when I told her my points weren't
always matching too well, she quickly retorted, "They aren't supposed
to." So after that I declared myself a great quilter. g

thing so I can go on to the next thing which leads to the next one....

hmm.... thinking on that drawing seam line thing.... you know it just may
have a possible use in all this madness!!

~KK~ who may just have to learn how to draw a straight line with the proper
writing utensils afterall.

Repeat after me. "It's just a design element."

=)

For serious help, I suggest resorting to pins. Hold a pin and connect
the dots. Then use other pins to hold the seam in place.

My mother started quilting just before the rotary blade became
available. She still draws *all* of her seam lines. It really does help
with matching points for the triangles and diamonds.

Then practice, practice, practice.

did you do them one of these ways?
http://quilting.about.com/library/weekly/aa022298.htm or did you fiddle
with the bias edge and work the traditional way?
I still have trouble sometimes with the "easy" way, but usually make them
just a tad bigger so i have enough room for squaring them up. Still afraid
of large triangles. Which is why my Jacob's ladder is sitting half pieced
in my guest room for the past, oh... 9 yrs or so....

I'm going to risk having a pin cushion thrown at me (LOL) by suggesting

that
you try pressing your seams open....all of them...and then try stitching

your
points.

Please try a sample and let me know how you do.

Ok, gotta ask...

Why would you get a pin cushion thrown at you for suggesting open pressing
seams? Is there a reason NOT to press them open?

Shona who doesn't press seams open only because it is too darn fiddly in NZ
