Then add to that your lease, your furniture and fixtures,
insurance, advertising, your minimum operating costs for 6 months, which
usually have to include an employee. With that added, I'd at least double
it.

Yeah, I was originally thinking about $225,000, but I thought, "You haven't had
your tea this afternoon.....you're probably groggy." But it sounds like what
I've heard from bead store owners in the past. Plus advertising!

Wet Canvas.

How DO these rumors get started? hehe I've browsed there a few times, but
that's all!

Did you go to the Gem Faire?

Absolutely! Bought way too much stuff I didn't really need....you know how
THAT goes! The Faire was HUGE this time - they actually spilled over into the
building just east of the usual....the small one on the corner of the street.
THAT building was HOT! NO air conditioning in it at all and it was 100* that
weekend! YUK! Now that it's drawing such large crowds, I wish some of the
seed bead/delica vendors would start manning some booths there, too! We need
more than just the ONE guy with the old, dusty seeds! (although he's mighty
nice to chat with!)

What feud?

Well, um.....there was an attempted coup on the AOL bead boards. VERY long
story and very ugly, too. Bad board monitor and her equally bad supervisors.
Anyhoo, I don't want to pollute the air with more dirty laundry about it, but
suffice it to say that there was a MASS exodus of beadfolk from AOL in the last
two weeks. The bead boards are all but silent. Some left AOL entirely, some
came here (or to other similar un-regulated type boards) and some moved the
bead folder discussions over to a new folder in Crafts called "castaways." The
board happened to have been there for a long time, unused. So we took it over!

I think it is a lot of work and I don't see a lot of people making a lot of
money. You don't hear about folks getting rich in the bead business. I know
many who just "exist." That takes the fun out of it for me.

Yeah, well, that was the brilliant master plan. Get paid to shop for

beads,
stock them, play with them, meet other like-minded people, mske pretty

lol, If you're ever up for the job of Empress of the World, you've
got my backing!
