I'm Back and thanx to Nora + Noreen
Hi all,
Well I'm finally over the two days of charity music work. But first I'd like to say thanx to both Nora and Noreen who have kept me informed of all the 6x6 activities and the March received squares. Good job there is three of us...lol.. Thanx N.N. Well now where to start, on Saturday night I guess, I joined the Starry Eyes Performance Initiative Group, ran by my duo partner Sally, it is a group aimed at giving kids a chance to sing or perform with workshops to help them along, they are now able to do shows and the children range from six upwards. Some of them have huge talents, and some of them show signs of having plenty. This group has cleaned up the streets of gangs of kids hanging around, given them something to do, and to feel proud about. When they get into their teens I take on the older ones and show them the ropes for gigging circuit. Anyway they were doing a charity, so Sal and I were with them, and sang as well, so that was a late night, we didn't finish singing til gone half twelve and I got home here about 2am. The next day they joined me, in a pub in Westbury Wiltshire, the home of one of our White Horse's, beauty spots, and we sang along with several others right through til midnight...there were plenty of things going on. A raffle, Name the Doll, Guess the weight of the doll, skittles, an Auction, and a Slave Auction, now that's a good money spinner for charity if anyone is thinking of doing anything, you get so many girls and boys or lads or men, whatever, who will be willing to be sold for five hours work,(you can alter the hours to suit) then they are sold to the highest bidder, one guy has to build a wall for his master, the landlady of the pub bought her security guard for fifty UK pounds, as it was cheaper than the rate she has to pay, and also she bought two girls to do some ironing for her...Now if the slave can't fill his or her obligation or wants to buy him/herself out, they have to put into the charity what they were sold for.. quite a good one for raising funds that is, and it totalled two hundred pounds on it's own. Each slave was chained and had a ball on the end of the chain too, although they were only plastic ones, but it looked good..lol Anyway the all day event went off smoothly, and was great fun, but again it was a late night, and Monday I was shattered, I somehow managed to count up the money and find out that we had raised over one and a half thousand again, and yesterday took it to the Respite Centre who were delighted with it. Today, I'm still feeling a bit tiried, but well on the mend now...lol. Oh and nearly forgot, the guy I promote, Tim, he got there later than he said he was going to, I took one look at him, and knew something was wrong. Apparently, driving back from Devon, near Cornwall (UK) he'd been the first one on the scene of a car crash, and had to stop call the emergency services, but he said it looked awful, the girl passenger was screaming, and her partner had something from the car embedded in him, Tim doesn't think he'll make it, and Tim had to keep him awake, whilst trying to calm the girl down, and not to allow either of them to move. He was shaken up badly by this, but still did three numbers from his album for us, after the pub landlady had given him a coffee etc he was able to do this. I told him to go on home after that, he needed his rest anyway, it's a long drive from Brixham in Devon to Westbury Wiltshire. two hours at least, and he had just done a two hour or more gig. Plus he had to go to the police station again on Monday to give a further statement of what he witnessed. Anyway that is it all in a nutshell, and the pub is carrying on for the rest of the year making money for the charity, next year the charity will be changed. Probably to M.S. as the chairman who helps me with this, his wife suffers from this and wasn't well all that day, but still did what she could to help. Again my thanks to Nora and Noreen.......cheers.........Crafty Cher --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com).
