Posted on another group earlier today, this got high praise from members. Need Memory Quilt help
I spent over an hour looking around at various topics and the gallery.
Thanks for that link (I think :-) ). Bev in TX On 12/15/10 3:19 PM, Rita L. in MA wrote: GrammyKathy wrote: I am making some memory quilts and most of the shirts are t-shirts. Did anybody mention how it washes? Does it stay fused?
Kathy, you could equalize the size of all your blocks by sewing a sashing around each one, then cut them all the same. (Depends how much bigger the big ones are!) With a little planning, you could use 2 contrasting sashings and alternate them. Or do sashing on 2 sides only, as in Attic Windows. If there's a huge difference in the size of squares, you might be able to piece 4 little ones together to match the size of 1 big one. Or use graph paper to plan a puzzle layout -you would probably have to make small pieced blocks to fill in, but that could be wonderful. this works well if all your squares are e.g. multiples of 2".
