Default addiction

I know almost everyone here is addicted to fabric on some level, but, I
don't know if it's because of everything I've been going through with my
cancer treatment or what, but I have been seeking lots of comfort through
fabric. I just can't keep my hands off of it! It's a problem because I'm
constantly finding more fabrics that would make perfect new projects, but I
don't have any time for projects so I've got this stuff queued up for like
the next 60 years!

I just saw yummy bright flannels on sale at HoP, and I so want to buy a
bunch and make some rag quilts! But, I seriously do not need any more
fabric - I have spent what must amount to a shameful amount of money on
fabric already this year. Why oh why do they keep sending me those "friendly
newsletters"?

Dreaming doesn't cost anything. A lot of us use the 'fabric eye candy'
as a means to 'just relax' and let the mind wander in "what this fabric
would look like in a quilt made of _triangles/rectangles/fans/circles_
you get the idea ; )We call them "Mind's Eye Quilts" (MEQ)
Sometimes when you are working on a quilt--you will suddenly realize
that you ARE using that very idea/color/design in your present work : )

makes perfect sense to me, Ann.
that said...you can make raggy quilts from layers of cotton too.
how bout a pretty chenille type quilty wallhanging.
take the time to play with what you've got.
explore new methods or ideas or combos.

heres one that might keep ya amused.
http://kameleonquilt.com/kameleon%20...ghtandday.html
sorry, i just looooooooove 3D stuff.
this page shows one single quilt, no not one pattern, one quilt in 4
different positions, its got interchangeable/moveable units.
each one lovely in its own right.
the number of variable positions is huuuuuuuuge.
i'll bet you could come up with a variation of this with some different
background blocks. come on wheres that lateral 'thunkin' of yours.
enjoy!!

I have the perfect solution to your problem dear........... Send me some of
your stash to make into lovely quilts and then voila! You will have room to
put that flannel you want. OR - send me the flannel you just HAVE to buy.

I've been to that site before, and just went there again. This fascinates
me. I just love that concept! How do you get the buttons covered? Anybody
here ever covered buttons before?

I sometimes think that we buy so many new fabrics
because we like fabrics and the array seems to be unending right now
as manufacturers have realized our 'weakness'...and , even better, we don't
have to try it on !!!.. . If we buy FQs and don't really have a need for
it it will just sit quietly in it's box...shelf...
where ever and doesn't make you feel guilty when you come upon it again.

Karen,

I have covered buttons. In this country (UK) we get them in two pieces.
You cut a circle of fabric slightly larger than the button. You fold it
over the edges of the button so that the small teeth get hold of the fabric,
then you push the back onto it so everything stays secure. Its actually
really quite simple...

I just knew someone was going to suggest that! ;^)
As long as you make lovely quilts and then send those back to ME, it's a
deal! ;^)
