Default OT - Baby News

The good news is that Mark and I are expecting our first child in
January, and are planning to get married later on in the spring,
possibly June. We had planned to marry first, but the baby news
surprised us.

The bad news is, the moment I told my manager, she made my life hell at
work, was bullying me and refusing to help me (like lifting heavy
objects) though she assured her own manager that I would never lift
heavy things and I would always have help. It was a long string of
little incidents of harassment and favouring the other people in the
office, including doing several big favours for the lassie hired on the
same day as myself. So, I was signed off work by my GP for stress and
depression, and handed in my one week notice. I can now rest whenever I
feel like it, but I am waiting for the “black cloud” to lift. It would
be nice, for example, to feel like making a quilt.

I have my 12-week scan tomorrow, and will have a better idea of the due
date and all the tests they will want to do then. I’ve had terrible
morning sickness for the last 2 months, and have actually lost weight,
not gained weight, so let’s hope the next trimester is better!

Woooooooooooooohoooooooooooooooooo now that is some fantastics news there
Jo. Congrats all the way around.

Poo poo on the work situation though. Better to get out now than to have to
deal with it for the entire nine months. Make sure and keep up posted as to
due date and all that good stuff.

Sorry to hear she is being such a b***h - no other word for it I'm
afraid. I hope things calm down for you now you are not working - is it
worth looking at "constructive dismissal" ?

Have you tried ryvita? I remember that helping me when I was expecting
DD also I had to cut out certain foods that I had previously been fine
with, such as brown rice! Good luck with everything, including quilting.

JO! What wonderful news! Congratulations!! I'm so very sorry about your
work situation....this seems like there would be something unlawful about
all this. Harrassment perhaps? Anyway....forget them....concentrate on
feeling better and the wonderful life you and Mark will have with this new
family member. Congratulations again....this is great! I hope you get your
motivation back to enjoy quiltmaking again. I feel you will.
Take good care of yourself and check in when you can! Woo hoo!!!

Wow, Jo, what show-stopping news!

It's wonderful that you are going to be setting up your own family.

I'm sorry you've had such problems at work; that sort of thing can make
your life feel awful. Now you can be free for a bit.

I hope the sickness settles down for you and the scan shows all is as it
should be.

Take care. Keep us updated - and, yes, you do have to make a quilt!! so
your 'feelings' have simply got to improve - you tell 'em g

Very happy for you.

Oh, Jo! I'm so pleased for you about the baby! It's sad that your
manager was so awful -- perhaps she was jealous, though that's not an
excuse, of course. I hope you will feel better soon; my own morning
sickness was terrible, but it stopped after the third month. Take
care of yourself!

Sorry about the work situation, but big congrats on the baby news! Best of
luck to both you and Mark - and just forget about that so-and-so former
manager!

Congratulations. I am so thrilled for you. This is the real beginning of
the rest of your life so forget the past and concentrate on the future,
its much more important and exciting than the job could ever have been.

The morning sickness is miserable - I hope it is over soon, and that the
'black cloud' will fly out of the window with it, and that quilt making
will fly in the other window!

Take care of yourself.
