I have noticed that Webshots has started using annoying plugins to
flog something or other that requires you to unclick it to make it
stop it's syrupy voiced intrusion. It might be time to look for a new
photo hosting site. Any suggestions? Thank heavens I have copies of
all my photo's in a back up hard drive.

I use Flickr.
I pay a small annual fee to have no adverts at all.
There is also a free one, though; but it does have adverts. I don't
know about sound, as I never have my speakers switched on!

I've been using Picasa on Google. It is free. I haven't really used it a
whole lot so I haven't figured a lot out or how user friendly/unfriendly it
is.

I haven't had any "audio intrusions" on webshots. I've used it for about 5
years and have no intentions of leaving.

When I uploaded some new photos today, I noticed the same thing. You click
one ad "off", and the next one comes on louder. I think turning off the
sound might be a good solution!

I just deleted all of my photo's from webshots. I have them on my
extra hard drive so I am going shopping for a photo hosting site. Stay
tuned. but no more webshots for me.

I hear you John (no pun intended)! I was looking at Gen's quilts on Webshots
last night and every time I brought up a new picture another LOUD ad started
up. I have a headset rather than speakers, and even with the headset laying
down on the floor I could still hear it. I finally gave up.

John, I'm *hating* going to Webshots to see people's photos because of
the audio. If I have music playing from iTunes or am listening to the
news, the ads override that. It's very annoying, as you say.

Unless you're trying to listen to something else on your computer as you
look at the photos. :S
