a mascot?
How about a thunkie/squishie pin for identification at shows, LQS, etc.
Make a pin to look like your favorite chocolate. (Keep the wrapper from the chocolate, cut a piece of cardboard a size to match the chocolate. Cover it with the wrapper, glue on a pin backing.) Then pin this thru a piece of fabric to your lapel. Or use something to resemble a Kiss, covered in aluminum foil. Or be creative with polyclay. Thunkies/squishies are unique to this group (yes?). If it has to be an animal, some variation of a QI maybe. Shana |

a mascot?
How about we stay we with the one we have - the RCTQ Logo has stood us in
good stead up until now. We don't need a new one. A badge would be as easy to make as printing out the logo on fabric and writing your on line name on it. We made badges for our local (Q.U.I.L.T. - Quilters United in Learning Together) and used a tiny version of the Friendship Star. We wore our quilting pins/tie tacs on them. This logo is already internationally known and so it is easy to recognize. Ms Say-ruh's banner with that chattering black bird on it still travels to most quilting shows and acts as a standard where folks can gather underneath to meet and chatter. It is bright and easy to see from across a crowded room so works very well. Why change? If it ain't broke - don't fix it!! -- http://community.webshots.com/user/snigdibbly SNIGDIBBLY ~e~ " / \ http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/snigdibbly. http://www.ebaystores.com/snigdibbly...ox&refid=store "Cats" wrote in message ... Hey - I understand the imagery! And I laugh about it along with the rest. But many of us live in parts of the world where pirates and 'gators are not exactly everyday relevant. I may never get to meet any of you, let alone get to a show meet-up. But I would still love to have a badge with an authentic rctq mascot. So if we are gonna get a mascot, could it be something a little more global? http://www.quiltingamongfriends.com/...tpolicepin.htm This is a fun pin that I was given by some of my "students". Couldn't one of our artistic members draw us a little cartoon character mascot - something we could all wear all over the world? I love the 'gator imagery within rctq, but if I went to a local guild meeting wearing such a name tag everyone would stay 10' from me, thinking I was getting set to rip someone apart in a fit of bad temper! -- Cats ^;;^ ^;;^ ^;;^ ( U ) ( U ) ( U ) Enness Boofhead Donut http://community.webshots.com/user/witchofthewest catsatararatATyahooDOTcomDOTau "Pat in Virginia" wrote in message news:_LBWf.8734$9h5.5518@dukeread09... : Yes, we do. a mascot?
Actually no - thunkies and squishies are pretty universal. I heard about
them from our quilt - counted XS and embroidery guilds long before I knew of RCTQ - I've been here since about 1995, I think. First I heard of them was maybe 1987. -- http://community.webshots.com/user/snigdibbly SNIGDIBBLY ~e~ " / \ http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/snigdibbly. http://www.ebaystores.com/snigdibbly...ox&refid=store "craftydragon1951" wrote in message oups.com... I was squished with chocolate fabric in with a thunkie, so I'm well
prepared for this one! -- Sally at the Seaside ~~~~~~~~~~ (uk) http://community.webshots.com/user/sallyswin On 30 Mar 2006 05:52:15 -0800, "craftydragon1951" wrote: How about a thunkie/squishie pin for identification at shows, LQS, etc. Make a pin to look like your favorite chocolate. All the RCTQ messages are text only. (Which
is why we are asked to NOT use HTML.) The Logo is on a web site someplace. (Big help, eh?) PAT craftydragon1951 wrote: What logo? My RCTQ messages are text only. Shana |
