Help Me Choose Please- Why EQ5 is evil
I have had this WIP for some time. It has stumped me as to how to
finish it. I had asked for help on utilizing a Delectable Mountains border. Well, I finally bought a copy of EQ5. This is when the trouble started. I have way too many ideas on how to border this quilt. I posted nine options on my webshots. (I am sure there are more combinations.) Right now my head is spinning. I also posted pictures of the two blue print fabrics. The navy blue fabric featured in some options does have a small metallic silver pindot print that won't show up in scans. I know there are many opinionated people here. Please help. This quilt is for my DH and has been in progress way to long. It's winter in Virginia and he wants to steal my couch quilt (made by my grandmother) if I don't finish this. My album is http://community.webshots.com/user/julieinrichmond Thanks in advance! Options 3 and 7 are similar; either would work well. PAT silverbells wrote: I have had this WIP for some time. It has stumped me as to how to finish it. Help Me Choose Please- Why EQ5 is evil
Yep. EQ5 is evil. (there are rumors that EQ6 will be around maybe later
this year) Easier to say the ones I don't like -- 9 (too dark); 2 & 7 (too light). If I were making it for myself, I'd do #4. But #9 makes more of a "statement" and probably makes the better all around quilt. Clever pattern. Is it one you made up or saw somewhere or what? Help Me Choose Please- Why EQ5 is evil
Personally...I like #1 (and 9.. but with a modification)
I don't like the amount of the dark perimeter around the outside of #9 -- but I like the idea of the very outside being dark if you use the navy in the inner border. I would do the #1 but with the navy for the binding - so it would have the effect of the dark perimeter without being so overwhelming. I think if you use the navy on an inner border, you almost need it on the outer. To me, it doesn't fit as the only place in the quilt is the one inner border. That said, I also like #3/7 -- not sure how they are different. It would depend on how different the two fabrics show in real life if I would do both for the inner border -- if they are two close, I might consider like a 3/4 inch (finished) white between them -- or only use one. However staying with only the lights makes a very different quilt then using the navy. I could go either way -- the "double" use of the navy -- or none at all. Or go ahead and make another "inside", try both -- see which DH likes best and send the extra one to me! :-) Kate in MI (well -- still in OH for now) |

Help Me Choose Please- Why EQ5 is evil
I like a sort of cross between options 6 and 9.
I like 6, but feel it needs a narrow, dark border - as it has towards the centre. It would then look a little like option 9, but I feel that the wider dark border on that one swamps the centre a bit. I think a repeat of the inner borders on the outside would look lovely. .. In message , silverbells writes I have had this WIP for some time. It has stumped me as to how to finish it.
