Oh my gosh... RCB is totally turning
into the Place to Be. Haw! It always was......it's just that some folks didn't know it. :-) ~~ Sooz ------- "Those in the cheaper seats clap. The rest of you rattle your jewelry." As for the young retiree part, you're not alone there either. I retired at
38 due to massive health problems, and there are lots of us "disabled but beading away" people here in RCB. That's right. I retired at 32. ~~ Sooz ------- "Those in the cheaper seats clap. Welcome Jane!!
Kathy K "Jane Mormino" wrote in message hlink.net... My name is Jane-I've been reading the RCB for almost a month now-sometimes replying to posts, and not being able to figure out where they went! Just the other day, when I answered Dr Sooz's question about a dream project, I finally figured out you had to click on the little + symbol to see what other people had written!! Wow-do I feel sheepish?! And I am the one in my family who has used the internet the most! Just goes to show you can always learn something new... Which is why I searched out RCB-I am 33-and have been stringing/weaving/wiring beads for about 17 years-and I love to share ideas with other people. I live in Cary NC, which is right outside Raleigh, and I am originally from Charlotte, NC. I worked as a Fine Arts merchandiser when I first came here(2 1/2 years)-and quit last summer to be with my kids. Today-I am almost afraid to even mention it, lest I don't get it, but here goes-I am going to interview at the premier bead store in the triangle-Ornamentea.(Bedizen) Please, may I ask that you keep your fingers crossed? I'll need blessings, especially if I get it-to make sure I don't give them my paycheck back every week after spending all of it on beads!! Someone asked if I had any wreaths/crowns to show-not really-all I have ever imagined would cost a fortune I don't have at this time-but I do think someday I would like to make up a few and try to sell them to Bridal shops in the area...my attempts so far have only been with dough flowers-for my daughters-which are sweet and lovely-but not exactly the shiny and glittery things of my imagination. I have made a few masks that are up in the store I used to work in-I should go and get a picture of them, I forget the camera every time I go. When I was in high school I apprenticed with a silk doll-maker named Caty Carlin-and that has been a big influence on the rest of the story...I'll stop babbling for now-and come back later to let you know how the interview went...I am afraid to even tell my husband-he knows I LOVE beads-but the plus side of the job is that there are benefits(although it's a small business-it's owned and run by women) and I think the environment is excellent...we shall see! |

Just wanted to pop in and say hello. I checked out Ornamentea's website, and found a cool mug and t-shirt that I wanted to let everyone here know about: http://snipurl.com/88bz It looks like a cool place, and I hope you get the job. And I hope you have money left on each and every payday :-) Tink New Stuff Up: http://blackswampglassworks.com/latest.htm |

Welcome Jane, glad you unlurked to join in the fun.
With regard to this: (Bedizen) Please, may I ask that you keep your fingers crossed? I'll need blessings, especially if I get it-to make sure I don't give them my paycheck back every week after spending all of it on beads!! I'll willingly give my blessings but really, there's not much hope. I work part time in a fabric store. I sew. When the new season stock comes in I'm completely crazed. I get a good discount which is just as well, I don't leave my entire pay cheque at the store. One of the best things about working in the bead store will be that you have something in common with customers right away. I find this to be the case in the fabric store. I don't sell so much as act like a 5 minute best friend. Every day is fun. Good luck and I hope you get the job. -- Marisa (AU/NZ) www.galleryvittoria.com Take your thieving hands off my iPod. |
