Isn't that a HOOT???....the doofus radio guy who I heard report it didn't even
*click* on the fact that Ringo was turning 64. (Doofus' MOM was prolly in
diapers...)

The very idea that there are people alive who aren't totally versed in Beatles
lore is enough to make me run away.

Yes. I wanted to cry when Manda had no idea what I was talking
about, even when I sung the song. That was hideous.

Child needs a refresher course in basic rock and roll.

I was well educated, no lullabies for me, it was Beatles songs
instead....

Mine didn't get any either, and she actually has several Beatles
CD's. Either she's truly forgotten or pulling my leg.

Probably the second then - I can't think of any better way of
horrifying my parents than not knowing something like that (Well telling
them that the latest 'in' band is better than the Beatles has an
interesting effect)

What cracks me up is that her latest favorite album is Aerosmith's
Greatest Hits. Especially since "Aerosmith Rocks" was the big, huge
album when I was her age and because the band lives in the area. I
understand that it's embarrassing when your old, decrepit mother (me)
knows the words better than you do. I also know a lot more rap than
she does, because I was really intrigued by it when it first came on
the pop scene in the late '70's. (remember Kurtis Blow, anyone?)

My favourite's a Faces CD that my boyfriend pilferd from his Dad -
luvvit! The only Aerosmith song I can think of is the song from
Armageddon and Kurtis Blow - not a clue!

I never had that problem: my mother likes German folk songs, heavy
on the yodeling. Pee-yew. When I was a teen, I'd translate them
into English and sing along to make Mom crazed. These songs make
country music sound upbeat and fun. (I lost my homeland and my family
- I will see it no more, and I shall die alone and forgotten by all.
that kind of cheerful stuff)

Sounds fabulous - nothing beats a bit of maudlin yodeling!
