Default Quilt Show in Centerville, TN-1 hours from Nashville

Hello everyone! This is my first post to the group. I am helping the
Hickman County Quilt Show committee publicize their Second Annual
Quilt Show.
If you love local history and quilts, please come to our show! It's
October 5th and 6th at the First Baptist Church, 123 Church Street,
Centerville, TN 37033. Last year they had 189 quilts, owned or made by
Hickman County residents.

We would love to see you! More information included below in the press
release.

Celebrating 200 Years of Stars, the theme of the second annual Hickman
County Quilt Show is to encourage Hickman County residents to enter at
least 200 quilts in the show for Hickman County's bicentennial year.
This year's show features the star pattern and designs in pieced,
embroidered, quilted, and appliquéd quilts. Other quilt patterns and
designs will also be displayed. Show quilts are made or owned by
current or former Hickman County residents. Quilts are pieced and
quilted by hand or machine. Displays of quilts will include baby, lap-
size, full-size, queen, king, and wall hangings. Heirloom, battered,
mended, old, and new quilts will be shown. Last year's show displayed
189 entries.
The show also features three special quilts: The Cooper Quilt, stored
for six generation in a cherry wood chest; Happy Hexagons, made in
1985 by eighty-year-old Sarah Jenkins and featured in Great American
Quilts; and The Katrina Quilt, made in 1939 and lost from a bedroom
closet in Mississippi when the house was washed away during the storm.
After the storm, the quilt was dredged from the mud and returned to
its owner.
Other items of interest at the show include friendship quilt
patterns, Cooper Quilt lapel pins, and quilt books showing photographs
of last year's 189 quilts that will be available for purchase. Quilt
blocks designed and colored by local students will also be on display.
From 1-2 pm on Saturday, October 6th, a group of six ladies, whose

quilts were featured in the Hickman County Times, will be present to
discuss their quilts. Also during the show, quilters from Centerville
First United Methodist Church will provide a quilting demonstration
for show visitors.
Show admission is free, and free parking is provided. The show is
open to the public from 12 pm-4pm on Friday, October 5th, and 10
am-4pm on Saturday, October 6th. The location of the show is
Centerville First Baptist Church at 123 Church Street, Centerville,
Tennessee, 37033. For more information about the quilt show, please
