Default Whooppee - I`m mobile!

With my walking getting worse all the time, John`s just bought me a mobility
scooter for my birthday! Wheeee! Now NO-ONE`s safe! (within a fourteen mile
radius, that is!). It arrives next week.

Congratulations, Pat!

My DH has an electic wheelchair. Enables him to walk the beagle a
couple times a day, go to the mailbox, etc. Little things count! He's
no longer able to use a manual w/c, so these electric jobbies are such
a blessing! Just wish we had wider doorframes & hallways, as he tends
to cut them short & we now don't have a wall or doorframe in the house
that isn't damaged in some way or other! Small price!

Have fun with the wheels!

Congrats, Pat! I had a friend with MS who had a scooter and she was a
whiz at getting around restaurants, stores, ball fields...everywhere. It
was miraculous that she could get around so well and lead such a full
life in spite of her disease.

Now you, too, can be - quite literally - "hell-on-wheels"!!

Well, I'm sure there are one or two who deserve it -- the little punks
who see nothing wrong with pushing the elderly/disabled to the ground if
they're in the way.

But hopefully Pat will not have to do it more than once to make the point.

I`m just hoping that it arrives in time for our "Trimley Wives" meeting next
week! Most of them are walking a couple of miles up the road to the
strawberry farm and I thought I was going to have to stay in the hall with
the non-walkers for a quiz. Looks like I might just be able to go with the
rest and pick strawberries! Yum!

It also means I can go round to see my best friend, Shirley more - she can`t
walk and is nearly blind, and her husband is less than considerate. He does
what HE wants to do (messing around in boats) and until recently, she could
do her own thing. He seems to make no concessions for her, though, and
she`s put up with it for at least he thirty years WE`VE known her.

We`re spending this week checking out all the ways to places I want to go
that don`t mean I need to go on a dual carriageway!

Just thought I'd mention there's something called "offset door hinges"
that'll get you up to about 2" more room through doorways. e.g.:
