How to organize and store fabric.

For around $400, I bought 2 IKEA PAX wardrobes, each 39 wide x 90 high x
13 3/4 deep, added solid doors and 5 shelves each. I fold my fabric over
1/2 yard around an 8 1/2 x 24 ruler, then fold...

Vintage Singer Issue

I used to have a 401a. The 478 cams won't work. The 401 cams have a center
collar, but the 478 cams are flat. I was able to buy some 401 cams on eBay a
couple years ago for a good price. I see...

A Book for Kitty

I have that book and forgot it had that pattern in it. DH and I are doing a
2 week road trip to the MI UP next week; that would be a perfect project to
work on.

Sewing Rooms

4 closets? Wow! Definitely, use the bedroom.

I wouldn't spill the paint on purpose, either. I have done it by accident,
though, (a whole gallon of dark olive on new beige Berber) and that's what...

Sewing Rooms

I would pick the bedroom for better light and closet space.

As far as the carpet goes, you could 'accidentally' overturn a can of paint
on the floor. You would want to paint your new sewing room...

Copyright Infringement - by a Fabric Company??

Amazing. It is obvious that the tableaus in which the cups are pictured
were directly lifted from the cards. Fabri-quilt doesn't have designers??
How do they get their designs, then? Psychics? If...

New SM on order

Congrats! I love mine although I don't do much FMQ on it. I love it for
piecing; it's so fast.

New to group (again) + Fabric Storage Ideas needed

Thanks! I must confess, though, that my folded fabric is the only area of
my life where I am compulsively neat! :)

I tried using plastic bins when I first started quilting and could never
find anything. I like the cabinets with doors so I can open them I can see
all my fabric at once, and the fabric is...

New to group (again) + Fabric Storage Ideas needed

Hello, everyone! I've been gone quite some time, but I've decided it's time
to take up quilting again. so I thought I'd check in and see what's going
on. I'm glad to see so many familiar names.

Darn you, Polly Esther

My laundry room is the only room without an outside wall, and the dryer
exhaust goes about 25' straight up to the vent on the roof. I hope I never
have a problem like yours, 'cause there's no way...

Computer desk as sewing cabinet?

I bought my cabinet 2 years ago from a vendor at ebay that I'm very happy
with. The item number for one currently on sale is 150159868947. I have a
pic of mine on my webshots. I also bought the...

Looks pricy-I'd have to pay more than $200 to supply my stash. And it would
take up more room, besides. I like how I've arranged my stash. I've got pics
on my Webshots. The only thing I changed...

On point in a 4 by 2 pattern would allow 11 full blocks to be placed.

OT just QI nonsense

I would love to live in a small town. That kind of friendliness is something
I've never experienced living in S. Florida.

OT totally off topic postal service

She is not required to leave the mail if the box is blocked, but she should
be getting her lazy butt out of her truck to deliver packages. This makes me
appreciate my carrier all the more; she does...

Broward Quilt Expo

I popped over after school this afternoon. It's a shame, but I think it's
shrinking. It seems much smaller than the last one. I went through it twice
and I was still only there an hour. Of course...

Using leftover fabric.

At the Houston IQF, some quilters from Japan displayed quilts made with 1/4"
hexagons that measured as much as 150" by 150" square. They were quite
spectacular. No way I'd ever have the patience to...

make my own clothes, except for those things I want that I can't buy, like a

how much batting to buy and wider fabric

I find that the wide backing fabrics at Joann's shrink a LOT. I would
definitely prewash first. I don't feel the quality is worth the price, but
YMMV. I am more comfortable using Kona cottons and...
