LQS in Austin, TX
Hi Guys,
I am going to be visiting my DSis and her family in Austin, TX the end of July. She doesn't sew or quilt so she is not up on where the local fabric shops would be. Can someone point me in towards some good shops, please? I have been to Austin several times before but this will be the first time I have had my own car and can go where *I* want :-)! One trip will be to Fredericksburg -- always go there as I really like the drive AND I like the town. Does anyone know if the small fabric shop is still there? Last time I was there (about 4 years ago) it had a load of fabrics suitable for kids. That would be OK as I have the SMDGD to sew for now :-). As of now, I don't plan to head towards San Antonio, but ya' never know -- LOL! I will be in Ausstin from 29 July to 02 August and LNS and LQS shopping are the main things on the list. My DNiece is graduating from High School and it has been a long, hard struggle fir her -- she has been quite ill for several years and has had to go to the alternative school. She is interested in Silk Ribbon Embroidery and general Surface Embroidery so, as part of her graduation gift, I will be taking her to Ginger's and the regular craft stores to stock up on needlework supplies. As payback, she'll have to accompany me to the LQS so maybe I can get her hooked on quilting too :-)))! Obviously, any and all recommendations for LQS will be gratefully accepted :-)! CiaoMeow ^;;^ .. PAX, Tia Mary ^;;^ Queen of Kitties Angels can't show their wings on earth but nothing was ever said about their WHISKERS!! Nothing is complete without a few cat hairs! If you're willing to travel from Austin to Fredericksburg, you might
also want to take the trip to Kerrville and visit Creations. Nice shop, lots of batiks--and as an added inducement to you in particular, they have free-roaming cats. Be sure to pat Domino for me! You've mentioned Ginger's, that's a really great shop! You also might visit

I have never posted here before, but I do live in Austin. I would recommend:
The Quilt Store http://www.quiltstore.com/ This is by far the largest quilt store in town. Honey Bee Quilt Store http://www.honeybeequiltstore.com/HTML/home.php There is also a small quilt store in downtown Round Rock (which is just north of Austin) called Mini Stitches. It's very cute and is in an old house. The address is 208 W. Bagdad Ave. #7 Round Rock, TX 78664 phone (512) 255-8545 Have fun! Becky |
