The reason I ask is that most of the places selling "chain by the inch" at the retail level are selling plated or at most, gold filled. In short, crappy chain. So please clarity just what you're looking for. And, have you tried simply googling it? Peter |

Peter My sister and I would like some shorter chains for necklaces--14" for ourselves, and, shorter ones for our grandchildren. Better quality Naturally, I've found sources on the internet, but am hesitant to order from any without a recommendation or 2. We, as novices, will not be able to determine the quality once the order is received, and therefore are reluctant to order over the internet. Thanks Liz Most of our local jewelers will not sell by the inch. |

You can always for credit on the remaining gold that you don't need. There should be no reason why a local jeweler should not be able to shorten it for you. I know quite a few chain manufacturers who sell them by inches and add the lobsters or jumprings to them later on. Ravi K. www.gemsutra.com |

You can buy a long chains and some extra clasps from Rio Grande's Gems and Findings catalog. Get pliers from their Tools & Equipment catalog. It'll be fun. -- mbstevens http://www.mbstevens.com |
