Another exciting busy and fun day!

Well we were off again this morning a girl friend and I and we went
in pursuit of treasures only to be found at rummage/yard/garage sales...
Even though I thought I hit the mother load yesterday with my fabric
discoveries... Well I have to tell you I did almost as well as
yesterday. Today I came home with 21 yards of fabric (all quilting
fabrics) for the grand total price of $1.75. It all just came out of
the dryer and so I think tomorrow I will spend a part of the day
pressing the 50+ yards of fabric that I have purchased in the last 2
days. So for a bit over $5.00 I am the proud owner of a bit over 50
yards of new fabrics!!!
Of course I found a couple of other small treasures... 2 King Size
Sheet sets for $2.00 and a cheese shredder.
The rest of the afternoon I have spent right here working on getting
this darn puter working right. Some things are now right on the money
while others still have a bit of a problem. As long as I can get on
RCTQ I am a happy woman!

Well I am going to keep on working on perfecting the system here and
touch in an out through out the evening... I will be playing catch up
with some of the messages here... but looking forward.

I'm already thinking of just what to do with some of the goodies... and
I know that much of it may well find its way to another RCTQ'er.

How do you find these sales? Every garage sale I manage to drag my DH to
has a few dented pots and pans, old shoes, odd ashtrays and old children's
toys, etc.

bleh.

In the area where I live there are any number of garage sales on any
given weekend... usually just a small sign posted at the end of a main
road that leads into a subdivision or such. On Saturday we hit a
'subdivision' sale where there were about 50 homes in the subdivision
that were having garage sales... those are the best IMHO because you can
do a lot with little travel. Of course there are any number that are
like you have experienced, but then there are the ones that seem to have
so many goodies that it is hard to pull away from. And I always offer
less that what something is marked for. Usually people are willing to
take less if their real intention is to sell it. If not they I figure
they either want to keep it or throw it away. Estate sales are the best
with moving sales running in a close second. I picked up a couple
things over the weekend, like the pressure cooker and (new) king size
sheet sets, the the seller had no idea of the value of these items.
I will usually leave the house with about $20 and come home most of
the time with treasure that are worth hundreds.
I suppose you will just have to come out this way and spend a day
doing garage sales with me. Oh yeah, and Thursday is always the best day.

Please - next time you're going to a garage sale - can I come too?
(Metaphorically speaking of course... but I want some of this!!)

We call it "rummaging" and it sure is fun. Went rummaging last weekend with
my DGD, DD#1, and a friend of theirs the other day. Spent $3 and got a
bunch of great clothes for DGD, a set of heart shaped plates for me, a
coffee maker for DD#1, a candle holder for DD#1, some clothes for DD#1, and
a bunch of other stuff. It was great. Oh - I forgot the 3 bags of costume
for DGD to play with. All for the same $3.

When DGD's hot pink cast started to itch (right at the elbow where even a
coat hanger can't get to it), we went so Sonic for Limades and ice cream.
That cost $9.

So, for a total of $12, I had a priceless morning!

I don't have to cook tonight - I cooked last night because DH took a nap all
afternoon so he started his chores late. So, tonight he cooks!

Well no garage sales today. Today I have started to iron all these
goodies and get them ready to join the other members of my humble stash.
For now I thought a break was in order, so the iron is turned off and I
have order out for a pizza so I won't have to cook. I think however it
is going to take me a day or so to get all of this pressed only because
I tire out so easily.
Regardless of getting tired I am still more than thrilled.
You can come with me anytime you like. Just have to be careful that I
don't trample over you to get to the fabric finds first... I am pretty
good at sniffing out the good stuff.
