Poly Clay/ wicked Candace

I have only recently realized what awesome beads you can make from poly clay
(by reading this newsgroup and following links). So it's on my I gotta do next
list. Then Candace just goes and gets clay and starts to make BEADS! Just like
that! So now I am obsessing. I am going through more and more sites, reading
instructions, looking at galleries, trying to put off buying clay until I see
what's left in the bank account. Ahhk. I think about Candace just getting clay
and making some beads... So I went out and bought some clay yesterday, it's on
my table, and I am afraid to touch it...Candace, tell me that you have made
more beads and get me over the last hump into the new obsession, making beads
from poly clay. It's all your fault I got this far, LOL!

Does anyone one else get hung up like this, taking the final plunge?

Break open that clay, take a pinch.. mush it..squish it!!! make a little
ball... flatten it... now take a second color... mush that.. .squish it!
make another ball.. pinch it into a little ducky... smooosh those two colors
together.. twist and skew it around...
Its inexpensive. You cant waste it... it just becomes mud and thats valuable
too!
Which brand did you get?
You are DOOMED!!! lol...

I once had a TON of polymer clay. I offered it for free here, and sent it to
someone in Florida who saw my offer here. That package was heavy!

Guess what? I never heard from that person again, and as far as I can tell,
they vanished from RCB, too. I love to give things to people freely, but I
felt taken. Wish I could've sent it to you, Stephie.

Fiddy, DO IT!! But I strongly suggest taking a class. PMC requires odd
techniques so it doesn't collapse it the kiln/hot pot, or fall apart, or just
not work. You really need to take a class -- but they're popping up
everywhere. Google it for your area -- I KNOW there are some down there.

Awww, me too.

Well like Diana said, it's cheap. I paid 2.00 for each little block. Is that
cheap? I got Sculpy III. (all they had) I figure I can find a better price
online if my fingers get happy. I always liked earth clay. I was wondering if I
got the poly clay in my 120 degree AZ summer mailbox if it would start to
cure...Maybe I better order when It cools down.

I am going to start the Diana method as soon as I get the clothes in the
dryer!!

The mailbox will only help condition the clay. That would be good.

Hehehehehehe! Okay, I'm sooooooorrrrrrryyyyyyyyyy (NOT!) Yes, I have been
working my polyclay like a mad woman. I've not put up any new pics the past
few days, but beleive me--if I walk by my table, I'm sitting down to clay!
I've been working on canes--and covering objects, mostly. I now have a
pretty glass covered glass jar with a tension lid, and I covered a wooden
needle case last night but I don't like the results. I'm halfway thru
getting a chrysanthemum(sp) cane just the way I want it, right now.
I'll prolly post some pics tonight.

My advice is to do swirlies first! There are infinite possibilities when
making swirl beads. Oh--if you want your beads to be the same size, make a
log of clay, then measure portions and cut them off--then form your beads.

I would love to swap newbie clay musings with you, Stephanie:)
