how do I refresh contact cement
Hello Everybody!
I once heard of a tip to "refresh" contact cement. Does anyone know what I can add to the contact cement which is almost dried up in my bottles? Thanks for your help! |

There's real big difference between "contact" cement and "rubber" cement.
Contact cement is what you use to adhere Formica to wood to make counter tops. I hardly imagine you'd be using that to adhere a pattern to glass. And, rubber cement is so cheap, why would you want to waste the time to re-disolve any that had dried up? Just chunk it and open a new bottle. "Jeff" wrote in message ... I asked in this group because I use rubber cement at times for my stained glass patterns. I didnt know it was wrong to ask! yep,
contact cement is basically for laminates......smear one side of each unit, position it CAREFULLY and stick together rubber cement is for a "temporary" adhesion and removable M is right.......buy some new stuff..keep it TIGHTLY closed h -- In the words of the IMMORTAL USED CAR DEALER: THERE IS AN ASS FOR EVERY SEAT! |
You are right...first, it was the rubber cement I was inquiring about, I
should of been more specific. Secondly, I have three full bottles of the rubber cement which are rather stiff and wanted to know if there was some way that I can "refresh" the glue. Thanks to all that offered help! yeah, toluene is the ingredient in glues that gets one high if sniffed.
Working with that may be more than you bargained for! m "Gary Owens" wrote in message om... Tolune but, just buy more rubber cement, its cheaper and safer. gary wrote in message ...
