Iron kvetching was Re Happy ending for Joann coupon.
Did I use that word right? kvetching? like looking over someone's
shoulder in a card game and giving unwanted and revealing advice? Well I "could" complain that my iron has no cover over the steam hole. So if I get really fast, the water sloshes back out of it, and it's REALLY HOT water too! I don't know how many times I stop to iron out the water spots in the ironing board instead of the fabric. LOL Then you could comiserate, which is sort of like complaining, just in the second person tense. I think the Rowenta I want is called DM-886. Heavy, No Auto-Off, Covered fill hole, and Selectable Steam as in, I can push the button and lock it down for steam, or release it and no steam, even if I'm on a hot setting like Cotton. Elena :) "Ann Adamson" wrote in message .. . Me too, I have a B&D iron, which works fine. But I guess I haven't even ever seen a more expensive iron to see what the difference is. I could truly be missing out on something here! I thought irons just got hot, and then you pressed them down on fabric to make it flat. ;^) Hey, maybe ignorance is bliss! One thing I do miss with my new iron that I had on my old 40-year old iron that conked out is the ability to turn of the steam at will. When I use spray starch I like to use a hot DRY iron. But this new iron thinks it's smarter than me, so it won't let me pick when to steam or not -- it picks for me. I hate that! Mostly because the iron probably is smarter than me, and that irks me a little. But it's tolerable. In the end the iron gets hot and then I put it on the fabric and it makes it flat...so what can I complain about? Ann "Elena" wrote in message news:Zw0Pa.21581$H17.5883@sccrnsc02... Yippee for you! I would buy a Rowenta from JoAnn's in a minute if I got a 50% off coupon that would work on it. At full price, I'm choosing to wait til I really need it. The 25.00 Black and Decker just keeps on steamin' anyway. :) Elena "Nana2B" wrote in message ... Today I went to Joann's to buy a new iron. Up until yesterday my Rowenta was fine, until Sugar (super QI Kitty) jumped on the ironing board and down it went. Of course it was on a tile floor. Very ugly and the iron was only about 1 year old. I dug out my 50% coupon and picked out a new one $25 after the 50%. I got to the register and the cashier said it was not good on irons. Here we go! I was in there on Saturday and bought a travel Rowenta and used that coupon. The manager was called and I told him very nicely of the situation and he said let it go. I was a very happy customer and told him that I shop here alot. That was my experience with the coupon. Linda -- Sugar & Spice Quilts by Linda E Texas http://community.webshots.com/user/frame242 |

Elena :) After several years hard wear, several rapid descents to the floor, and water courtesy of Blue Circle (cement manufacturers!), my lovely Rowenta P2 Professional is slowly dying of iron fatigue... It will last a few months yet, but being an older model (about 5 years old now), I don't think we can get spare valves and such. Part of the plastic casing, into which a screw fits, is busted, and all the rubber seals are slowly stiffening. I'm thinking of getting a steam generator one, and want to know which models are good. Remember I'm in the UK, using 240v electrons. -- Kate XXXXXX Lady Catherine, Wardrobe Mistress of the Chocolate Buttons http://www.diceyhome.free-online.co.uk Click on Kate's Pages and explore! |
It was very tempting to me when I was at Joann's not to buy the steam
generator iron. However I do not think the manager would have let that one slide through on the coupon. Next time Sugar knocks it off I may have to consider that one. -- Sugar & Spice Quilts by Linda E Texas http://community.webshots.com/user/frame242 |
Hey Bev that is really great. If I couldn't find that deal
I'm glad you did :) Only we quilters could appreciate a good deal on an iron and a special ironing board. Actually, my husband found the iron for me. He told me later that he
figured if he found something for me that *I* was interested in, I would be more patient and let him browse the aisles of Lowe's without big, long sighs from me. How annoying that he is so correct....... Bev "taria" wrote in message ... Hey Bev that is really great.
