Does anyone know these guys? by
nntp.earthlink.net
I have had a couple of clients ask me about these guys and don't know what
to say. They let you design a piece of stained glass on their site and
order it - they make it and ship it. They can do art from a photo too.
Anyone have anything good or bad to say about them? URL is...

material for making patterns by
Moose
Does anybody have any ideas for materials to use as patterns for
stained glass? My problem is when I go to grind my pieces, I can't get
them to stay stuck to the glass when they get wet. I've use super
sticky tape, rubber cement and any kind of marker that I have tried has
washed away as soon as...

Virus/Trojans by
Moonraker
One of the glass vendors must be infected with the latest virus/trojan.
I'm getting loads of emails into one of my business email accounts that only
gets used for corresponding with vendors.
Be careful of any emails that have an attachment(s) that are ~31KB in size.

Hey there,
Now tell me this.... Where is the stained glass group ? Is
rec.crafts.glass where those discussions take place ? If so, I'm
inclined to agree with "Kalera" and his "Good Lord" posting.....

Glass Price Increases???? by
Moonraker
I was doing an onsite repair the other day and found that I needed a piece
of Spectrum W100 that was bigger than what I had with me at the time. So I
went to a local SG retail shop for what I needed.
This particular store sells glass by the pound, not by the square
foot....anyway, the price of...

Glass Usage - Scrap Factor, dollars per piece by
Locoweed
I have two questions:
1. When bidding on stained glass projects, what is the usual scrap
factor artisans use when considering the amount of glass to
purchase/use? Would 15%-20% be excessive?
2. When bidding on stained glass project, what is a reasonable dollar
figure per piece of glass cut? ...

Chinese Lamps from Homeshopping Club by
Glassman
I used to resent seeing them. You know the ones? 500-1000 pieces of
garish colors, poorly constructed, selling on TV for $99-$129 bucks. Would
take me 1-2 weeks to make one. I have fixed so many popped off vase caps
for $75 that I lost count? I had one in the other day. Charged her $50 for a

Kiln suggestion / recommendation ? by
Jman
Presently looking to purchase a Kiln so that I may do the following:
- Precious metal / Jewelery / PMC clay, etc...
- Enameling on Copper / Silver / Gold etc...
- Glass slumping and fusing (largest piece would be about the size of
a breakfast bowl)
I would prefer a kiln with a 'side opening /...

If they were bigger, my grandma would have used them as a pie or cake cover.
These look like cheese plate covers, or maybe petri dish covers.

Encouraging Devitrification by
[email protected]
Hi,
I am doing some fusing work that is devitrifying unevenly (some bits
scratchy, some glossy)...
I have tried the 'homemade' borax devit solution, but it doesn't seem
to work with this glass... My current idea is to promote full-on devit
across the entire piece. Nothing massive (I don't want it...

flame by
Allan Adler
Is there any kind of glassblowing one can do without using flame?
E.g. (but only an example) suppose I just want to be able to insert
an electrode into a test tube but don't want to use flame, even though
that is probably the most convenient way to do it. I don't care whether
the alternative is...
