Moonraker by nJb
I see you're still posting. The news here shows your area as getting buku tornados. Is that correct? Looked like the whole state was in the tornado area of the hurricane. How about a "man on the scene" report. Anybody else here in the beaten zone? Looked pretty bad. One bad ass hurricane. -- Jack

Slumping advice needed by Chris Wallace
Hello, I'm new to fusing and molding, but I have a potential client who wants specific geometric patterns in dinner plates. Given his request, I've decided to go hexagonal. The borders on the lines, circles, etc. must be clean and clear. I'm especially concerned that the design will warp during...

Working with borosilicate by Samantha BeanHead
Hi, I recently read info on a few websites about glass blowing for producing scientific apparatus such as tubes and flasks ect. One site showed that an amateur can work easily enough with soda lime glass using a regular blow torch from a DIY store that burns propane/butane. I'm wondering if I work...

what temp to soften glass so gravity makes it flow by TT
I have a large ceramic kiln and I want to experiment with glass. Here's what I'm trying to do. I want to lay some glass vodka bottles on their sides and get them hot enough so that gravity acting on them will make them flat/collapse. I don't want the glass to melt into a liquid puddle, but just...

Brushing Putty Into Lead Cames by Scribble
Hi All, I've always used the edge of my thumb to push putty under the leaves of the lead came. I'm on a big project right now - a 12-piece, 27 foot entry - and I thought I'd try the brush-in method this morning. The result was less than thrilling. Took as long as doing it by hand, didn't fill...

Hi Has anybody got a better method to crush glass to make frits? At the moment I am putting it between canvas and whacking it with a 21/2 pound hammer but the canvas does not last very long and I end up with bits of the cloth in the glass. Any ideas will be well appreciated. Thanks Joe

Cutting Zinc Channel by Jenny Howard
Hi, How do you cut the channels for frames? Do you use a hand saw or a table saw? I've used a hand saw, but am not thrilled! It's hard, and sometimes deforms the channel, and is difficult to be accurate. Also time consuming. I like making mitered corners because they look so much nicer. Can you...
