What kind of batting do you use? by
KT in Mich[_2_]
With the bitter cold we are experiencing in most of the US right now,
it's been a good time to "test" all those quilts we've made. Big
disappointment for me. With one exception, I've always used Warm and
Natural needled cotton. I like it because it can be quilted up to 10
inches apart. But I...

Beading help, please (not OT) by
Sandy
As I mentioned in another post, I must bead my latest challenge quilt.
I've finally decided what beads I want to use and where -- I think G
-- but now I'm wondering if anyone has any information on how do bead by
machine? Since I don't really want to bead at all G, I'm thinking it
might be...

Fabric from the thrift store by
Edna Pearl
My SO and I were driving through town yesterday and saw that the thrift
store annexed to the local Ecumenical Ministries was selling its clothing
inventory for $1 per article of clothing. My SO pointed it out to me, and a
couple of blocks later, I said, "Turn around."
I got a couple dozen...

OT totally off topic kitchens by
Taria[_2_]
Since you guys are about the smartest group around
I have a question. Is anyone famililar with an
over the stovetop microwave-convection oven
fan combo? I have had the microwave for years and
it needs replaced. The addition of the small covection
oven seems like something that would help me...

fabric dyeing by
Kathyl
http://community.webshots.com/album/576691363AvuNwp?vhost=community
For those of you who will still view pics on Webshots, I've posted the
results of my snow dyeing experiment. I soaked my fabric in a soda
ash solution, scrunched it into a plastic pan then packed snow on
top. I poured my dyes...

We've been searching for a position where we can work together, preferably
in Oregon, for the past 9 months. Today we were told, you're the ones.
bg We don't have a start date yet but we will be the management team at a

Holding on to a quilt by
Sartorresartus
OK, this is probably an old chestnut, but I'll ask anyway.
I usually HQ, as you know, so this has never been an issue, up till
now.
When you are MQ, how do you stop the sandwich dragging, so it impedes
the feed-dogs? I am trying to stitch-in-the-ditch. I have the sides
rolled (sometimes just...

Really need some purchasing help by
Frank Reid
Okay folks, many of you know me as the guy who gets the Xmas present
list together. Need your help.
I need a gift for my two loving quilting ladies (wife and daughter)
that relates to quilting. Something that they can do/use together.
Actually, I would prefer it if it is something that will...

Fabric ..... it's medical, you see by
Sunny[_2_]
I bought fabric. A lot of fabric. I didn't need it, don't know what
I'll do with it. But I bought fabric and paint to paint on it with and
I'm not one bit sorry. I feel sorta pretty, matter of fact.
You see, I was driving to pick up my son and on one side of the street
was a Krispy Kreme fund...

Can not use a thimble? by
Polly Esther[_2_]
I've tried everything that's been offered as a thimble. Silver, brass,
open, closed, rimmed, ultrasuede, leather. Everything.
Today I've found something for those of us whose fingers need some
protection and nothing works - or we absentmindedly slip past the thimbled
finger and puncture...

OT ants by
Polly Esther[_2_]
It is the rainy season here in the Swamp. The rainy season is generally
from March through February. Now and then, the weather conditions begin to
affect the delicate sensibilities of wee tiny ants and they begin to parade
indoors through our kitchen window sill.
My book on cheap solutions...

Multiply-noreply?? OT Perhaps? by
Patti
I have received about 8 e-mails today, from Multiply-noreply, telling me
all sorts of nonsense about the messages I have posted to RCTQ today (to
the effect, basically, that they haven't been received - but they are on
the group messages). DH has just had a look at them, and they don't
seem to...

I went to yet another free motion class yesterday. I know I'm hard on
myself and I know it takes practice, but this just may not be my thing.
Maybe my thing is precision piecing and I should just let someone else do
the quilting for me. I never find fault with other people's work, but my
own, ...
