today and Bolivia by
CNY/VAstitcher
Well, I talked with Dad this morning - worried because they didn't call
last night when they reached their friends house in GA. Told him he
didn't need to apologize as there was something more stressful that was
taking our attention. I then proceeded to tell him about the hopeful
trip to...

Not really OT by
Valkyrie
Did anyone watch the latest horrifying episode of Clean House? *re-icing
cool cloth for my forehead* The woman had nine or so plastic tubs of
quilting material and that silly Ozzy twit who decides what is important and
what isn't made the poor woman (who was practically in tears) toss out...

TSWLTH? by

Now excuse me, please for bein' so dense (and for askin' so many questions
in one evenin') ... but *why* is JoAnn's "The Store We Love to Hate?"
I've been wonderin' that ever since I wandered in here ... I've been to
'bout 6 JoAnn's in my lifetime (probably more, as most places I lived had

My Simply Quilts Adventure - Long by
Marcella Peek
As hinted at in another thread.....I unexpectedly ended up on Simply
Quilts.
A couple of months ago my friend, Anita Grossman Solomon found out her
proposal had been accepted by Simply Quilts and she was invited to film
an episode in January. As she lives in New York and I live in
California we...

OT - Sasha is gone... by
Johanna Gibson
Once upon a time, I was 20 and it was a hot summer day. I went
over to visit my friend Lisa, from school, since we hadn't seen each
other while she had been at university in Boston and I in Eugene,
Oregon (where we lived). I arrived early and saw a sign across the
street from her house...

Hug quilt discussion by
Karen, Queen of Squishies
How do you feel about this group's Hug quilts?
I know there are many sides to every discussion, but mainly there are two
sides to this one.
We should be careful who the group makes a Hug quilt for, because a lot
of time, effort, and expense go into one of these treasures and we have been...

OT - Ouch! says Diana by
frood
Diana C. wants me to tell you there was a minor incident with a carving
tool and she um... rearranged the landscape of her knuckle. It hurts for her
to type, so I'm passing along the info. Let's see if we can't make her laugh
hard enough to keep her mind off it for awhile.
Remember, she can't...

OT terribly OT - punctuation by
Polly Esther[_5_]
Please do forgive me for my Cranky Pants Polly howling. I don't know if the
rules have changed or if I just never understood them in the first place.
Today we received an announcement from a university that a
great-grandchild was receiving her degree. Wonderful.
It was addressed to "...

Keep a Good thought, Please by
teleflora
I've never done this before, but I have seen what these good thoughts
accomplish.
My 22 year old DD called me hysterical on Friday as I was packing for a
trip. Her annual Pap test came back "abnormal" and she is to have a
Coloscopy this Wednesday.
I reassured her that it was most likely nothing...

Any interest in a MINI row robin? by
Jessamy
Hi all,
Having seen the wonderful results of the mini row robin I thought it might
be fun to organise a mini ROW robin i.e. mini blocks in a row ( much easier
to do that a round robin I might add) I was thinking of either 2 or 3 inch
blocks ( your choice)
so are any or you interested?

Very OT - Freecycle gripe by
Kathy Applebaum
Don't get me wrong. I love Freecycle. It's a fabulous way to get rid of
stuff and know that it's going to a good home, rather than buried in a
landfill. This is an even better idea than sliced bread. :)
But why, oh why, are people such flakes? It gets really old. I list
something, a dozen people...

guilty secrets... by
Linda Sweigart
I bet we've all got some guilty (but humorous) little secrets regarding our
quilting endeavors... right?
Come on, admit it, right? ;-)
Ok, here's mine... can you top it? I bought EQ5 over 2 1/2 years ago... and
haven't done a dang thing with it yet. In fact I've barely even peeked at
it. Shame...

Triangle problems by

Can someone help and explain how to join triangles to I don't lose the tips.
I can't find the book I had years ago explaining this. Is there a website
somewhere to see how this is done? I'm getting desperate..........

I'm still working on my quilting goals for next year. So far, I know I want
to:
1) Improve my machine quilting
2) Create and finish at least 2 wallhangings for my home
3) Take a class on a new technique
Notice this is not my project list for this coming year. These are

OT cooking stoves and hand vacs by

When I first was introduced to this group, we had just moved to the Swamp

creation, the input was just wonderful. Now, well . . . maybe not now but
soon, the stove I love is going to need to be replaced. Please share your...

Inventions for Roberta and Polly by
polly esther
When you get Roberta's underview mirror alert invented, do another one for
us. I want a 'quick place' for two or three pins, a threaded needle and a
poker. Many pictures of old Singers will show that the stitcher has wrapped
a bit of fabric around the arm? arc? whatever you call that body part...
