Aha! and Wow by
Polly Esther
Inventing the wheel and the internet was nothing. Wait till you read what I
did.
I have a canvas-covered, gridded fake wood sort of board that I use for
pressing quilt blocks (as well as smocking, embroidery and assorted other
good stuff). This pressing tool is June Tailor's Quilter's...

top or bottom by
Gen
I know we've had this discussion numerous times, but since there are a lot
of newbies, I thought I'd open it up again. There are some that answer
posts by posting on top and others that wait and post at the bottom of
previous posts. Personally, I prefer posting on top, leaving enough of the...

Focus on Design: Card Tricks Sep 07 by
Pat in Virginia
Hello! Every once in blue moon, I post a Focus on
Design thread. The purpose is to encourage conversation
about quilt top patterns. This is not the place to talk
about the QI, nor chocolate, nor the relatives, nor
weather; it is okay to mention those once in a while,
but THIS thread is about...

Block sashing by
Estelle Gallagher
I have blocks from the European Block swap last year and a club swap this
year added to them. My focus fabric is a dergy batik which you might be able
to pick up. The photo is lighter than they are unfortunately.
My request to you all is what colour sashing would you use to bring all
these...

Help finding fabric by
John McKinnon
Hi people
Remember me? Well it's John from Australia, and I'm trying to locate some
fabric that I found last weekend while we were visiting a town on the coast,
in NSW.

(There's a few quilts I've made over recent years on there too!)

OT Ladies Only 2 by
Polly Esther[_2_]
At risk of boring some of you to tears, here's the final report on
disappearing eyebrows. I didn't want to look like Tammy Faye, am a chicken
about tattoos - for 2 reasons (1) I'm a coward and (2) what if they gave me
that 'surprised' look some folks wear that looks like they just swallowed a...

Final Borders Assy Question by
TwinMom
Ok friends, I'm at a loss here. I'm turning to the group to see what ya'll
do. When I was taught to make quilts, one of my first teachers told us to
put the side borders on first, then add the top and bottom. Something about
seams around the top being uncomfortable when in use, wearing better,...

rolling sewing machine tote by
threads
I am wondering what you all think is a good price for a rolling tote
for a sewing machine. I have the 6600P which is a little longer than
say a Bernina so I can't use the tote I use for my Bernina 910.
Thanks,
Marsha in nw, Ohio

Very narrow border. by
Sally Swindells
Probably I am behind the rest of the world, but I have just discovered
narrow borders!
Its a 1.1/2 strip folded in half and ironed to give a 3/4" strip. Cut 2
to the width and 2 for the length.
Then with the raw edges together and the folded edge towards the centre
of the quilt, sew the sides...

"Redwork" Embroidery Blocks by
Pat in Virginia
Well, I've decided to start some 'red work' blocks so I
will have a neat project to carry around. I will just
make them until I have enough for a project, or until
it makes me nuts (if that happens) ... whichever comes
first. I will be using green floss for these first
blocks which will have a...

kaleidoscope quilt by
Judy W
Hi all,
I would love to make a Kaleidoscope quilt and can't seem to be able to find
a pattern with templates to go with. Does anyone here know where I could buy
a set? I don't want to use cardboard or any thing flimsy for the templates,
so I don't want to make my own.
Thanks,
Judy

OT Looking for a recipe- please help? by

What I want is a lemon bar that is the texture and heavy, moist chewiness of

I have recipes for lemon pudding cake, lemon pound cake, lemon dump cake,
lemon bars with a filling like a lemon meringue pie and a bunch of other
lemon cake type recipes. But I *want* one with the rough...

Sashing/Cornerstone Q. by
Sherry
I just don't get this. It hangs me up every time, and it's surely not
such a complicated thing.
I just have a devil of a time getting the cornerstones/sashing to
intersect properly (I used 2-inch little "border" between each 9.5
inch block,.
I measured the blocks and squared them. Measured each...

long until I can use Thunderbird again.
