Question about Star Swap by Betsy Ross
Maybe I should have posted this to the Yahoo group but I thought I might get more input here. So the instructions say to aim for a 13" block so all swapped blocks could be squared to size. I understand you don't want the points cut off, so it seems there is a lot of calculations and...

A Hug for my friend Don by Betsy Ross
A friend was diagnosed with a brain tumour recently. Though the use of the website Supportcirlce.com, his friends and family have been able to keep up on his status and leave messages of support. After about two hours of playing with the messages page, I was able to send email to all who had...

Memorial quilt for those killed in Iraq by Betsy Ross
I would like to assemble a quilt top with blocks representing all the service men and women killed in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Unfortunately, the death toll is now over 2300. So I would like to use machine piecing to get near the current total. Each additional block would then be added by...

Thank you RCTQ Quiltmaker by Betsy Ross
For the lovely squishie. There is nothing like a surprise squishie. It reminds one of all the goodness in the world, goodness that is often hidden by events in the news. Thank you Quiltmaker and all at RCTQ. -- Susan aka Betsy Ross

Applique Shaddows? by Betsy Ross
I am using the fuse method to prepare my fabric for hand appliqué stitching. There are many places where appliquéd pieces would overlap resulting in a shadow. Given that the quilt will be a piece of "folk art," should I not worry and just try to minimize? Should I cut away all pieces to function...

What to write on a quilt label by Betsy Ross
Names, places, dates are givens. But how do you identify the contributions of those who worked on a quilt? A person designs an original quilt, pieces or appliqués it, sends it to a longarmer, and then binds and labels the quilt. "Quilted by" is an accurate description for the longarmer, but how...

Finished a Hug by Betsy Ross
To all who still have me in mind and to Snigdibbly whose blocks arrived today, I had enough blocks to complete this hug with Wednesday's mail. I stayed up until one this morning putting all the blocks together. I am emailing a photo to Teri right now. Thanks to all who sent blocks. As this was...

Tell me to quit by Betsy Ross
I have to keep mentioning www.quiltsforsoldiers.com because it is a good charity. (They are applying for tax exempt status which would make expenses deductible.) You can see some of my Quilts of Valor http://community.webshots.com/album/344334380SzIAud It may be annoying that I post this message...

Kool Kats Kwilt by Betsy Ross
A few months ago I posted PDF files for the Kool Kats Kwilt. Well, I broke down and did it, sort of. LOL, the pattern says to follow the picture to arrange cats. The scan was in black and white. It didn't really matter since I was not following the recommended cutting instructions for 13 or so...

Cutting table cover? by Betsy Ross
My cutting table just grew from a 30 x 72 folding table to a 40 x 84 piece of smooth plywood. I mean, really smooth plywood. What would you do with the surface if you wanted to use it for cutting and any other standing tasks? Cover it? Seal it? Wax it? Wax sounds scary. -- Susan aka Betsy Ross
