Real time posts? by
David W
I haven't posted to Rec.crafts.glass for several years. One thing I
don't understand is, why is there no real time posting? And, why does
it seem like some people view new posts sooner than others? From the
emails I've gotten, people were responding to my post long before I
saw it show up on the...

Problems with a small/medium sized glass casting ... by
[email protected]
Hello All,
I've been casting for the past 4 years (average of 5-6 casts a
month of something or the other). I've been using plaster+silica moulds
with chicken wire as needed. I've had reasonable results so far EXCEPT
for this one exasperating piece ...
This is a piece about 9"x4"x6" - it's a...

Has anyone here ever checked out http://www.wetcanvas.com/index.php?
I have been a member of WetCanvas for a while and would like to see more
glass stuff. I think there are some great people over there and from what I
have seen they are quite helpful to folks.

Colored etched glass by
Joey
I have a friend who says you can purchase etching creams that leave
the etched areas of glass tinted with various colors. I have been
unable to find such a product. Does this exist? Is there some sort of
technique that I can use to achieve the same effect?

Problems slumping Bullseye Irrids by
WillMore
I 've fused some larger irrids perfectly, but have ruined them slumping
in Bullseye molds.
The first , a round piece seemed to go down the sides first and ended up
with a slight dimple at the very bottom. On reslumping, even though I had
drilled another hole, the bubble grew.
The second piece was...

Hot Head on propane in the UK by
Su/Cutworks
There was a discussion a while ago here about lampworking in small premises
such as a boat in the UK.
I'd like to offer our recent experiences here. We live on a narrowboat, and
have Calor propane tanks aboard for use in our cooker. As MAPP is expensive
in the UK and not available in bulk it was...

Matthew Lybanon
My wife works in stained glass, using the copper foil technique. She
has been asked to make a large rectangular piece to cover a window, and
is not sure it is feasible with that technique (can it be made rigid
enough?). The project is not to make the window itself, but to make a
rectangular...
