OT - Jinxed by Cheryl Isaak
Brenda, I was thinking of you as I walked down to meet DD's kindergarten bus. Went out the garage, checked the deck and promptly slipped on my butt. (it snowed Monday!) I am fine and a bit sore - but as I was thinking of you at the time, may be I got your pain reduced a tad! Cheryl

How do you store your pearl/perle cottons? by Cheryl Isaak
I tried re-twisting the skeins, but that doesn't seem to hold? Just bag them like I do my other skeins? I've just started moving the lingerie chest I'm (attempting) to store my stash in to my bedroom so I can use it's current spot for a sewing machine table. I've resisted the urge to make sweet...

OT mostly - I am home! by Cheryl Isaak
And quite grateful to be here. We drove down to Philly to have Seder with DH's extended family. His family didn't make a big deal out of it; both of us had only been to Seders in college. (the one I went to was quite a dour affair) The kids really enjoyed it as the whole evening was quite...

Color me confused by Cheryl Isaak
Ok - what is going on here! I printed out the list of DMC variegated colors from the DMC website, check off the ones I have, go to the store to fill out the collection and there are more colors/numbers than on the "official" list. Are these "old" numbers that aren't make any more? Cheryl

Semi on topic - a bit of writing that conjured the most wonderfulimage by Cheryl Isaak
Most of you know that I love to garden. One of my favorite garden writers is Beverley Nichols. This is from "Garden Open Tomorrow". Nichols is speaking of his friend Marius during a walk at Kew Gardens. (Marius is a character much like Mycroft Holmes doing something unknowable at the Home...

Stitching giggle by Cheryl Isaak
I've just discovered that Darling, Dearest Daughter has absconded with the lettering chart from Everyone's Nook and colored each and every letter- in Sharpie, bold, black, wide tip Sharpie I may laugh about this later, but I had carefully pulled it out so I could chart my name, I'm so close to...

OT - slang questions by Cheryl Isaak
My DS wants to know if these terms are elsewhere in the country or if it a New England thing. So #1 - rice boy or rice burner referring to any motorcycle built for speed (aka crotch rockets) not for touring #2 - riced or riced out - any car that has been extensively modified - lowered, after...

OT OT The things we save by Cheryl Isaak
My father in law passed away about 5 years ago and over the next year, we packed up his house; the final push was just before the house was sold. My mother and sister came help. All these years later, these boxes are sitting in the basement and I am picking at them to get them out of there....

OT - sort of at least by Cheryl Isaak
Tomorrow ought to be fun. I have my tote packed with some knitting and a simple cross stitch piece and a book. And the camera. DD is going to a 4 hour hockey clinic at UNH; I'll check her in, go from there. I should get a little stitching time in! Cheryl

Getting started on canvas work by Cheryl Isaak
How does one get started? I've recently seen a canvas work piece and I'd like to try it, but have no idea about what to use as the ground. Is there a special canvas or does one use needlepoint canvas? Do I mount the canvas like I did when I attempted needlepoint? Other hints? Cheryl

A teaching question and second class by Cheryl Isaak
Well, my girls arrived eager for class today and most of them are doing quite well. One even had stitched both her initials and done a background over the week. Today we talked a bit about patterns and colors and some did a simple set of checkerboards. If I can, I'll hit the craft shops for cheap,...
