Weatherproofing copper foil...? by
Kris Krieger
Hi,
I want to make sme fixtures for outdoors. I'm doing copper foil. Can the
patina and whatnot be weatherproofed in any way? I thought about paste-
waxing the lead lines, or lacquering the whoel assembly, but any info would
be great.
Thanks!

slumping advice needed by
Chris Wallace
Hello,
I'm new to fusing and molding, but I have a potential client who wants
specific geometric patterns in dinner plates.
Given his request, I've decided to go hexagonal.
The borders on the lines, circles, etc. must be clean and clear. I'm
especially concerned that the design will warp during...

Painting Question by

This isn't my area of expertise, so bear with me. I need to recreate a
kind of spider-webby looking black on clear design for some damaged church
windows. Different thickness black lines in a hand drawn looking pattern.
(link below)... There are literally hundreds of these small sections,...

for links on where to buy them. I found a post in this newgroup from
2003 about these type...

oil fed cutters by

Oh boy, I'm starting to feel way out of this whole field...and I
thought I knew it so well.
I did, but that was 18 years ago! So much has happened and so much as
developed, I'm
feeling very 'green'.
My supplier, bless her heart, sent me a terrific selection of glass to
choose from..along with

New Glazing Stuff by
Glassman
Anyone else get a sample of those thin black plastic strips to be used in
the lead came hearts? I got a handful of them in the mail to try out. You
insert them and then use a heat gun to get them to liquify in place. By
coincidence I repaired a big panel this week that used those strips inside...

Telephone Equipment ??? by
Moonraker
I have a need for a telephone answering device that will greet the caller,
play a short generic menu message, and then route calls to specific
handsets or to voicemail, depending on what the caller inputs. You've heard
the system... "press 1 for sales, press 2 for accounting, etc."
Who are some...

kiln questions - front loading by
Steve Worcester
I am looking at buying a kiln, primarily for heat treating, but know that I
want to do some fusing and slumping later on.
I am looking at the Paragon HT14D which can be upgraded to 2300F (M2 steel
use). It has the 12 key controller and is front loading. This question is
really whether the elements...

Waaaaah! :-( by
suzilem
I just had my first chunk-o-glass fracture in my kiln. :-( I was slumping
a 3.5"x3.5" shallow dish and it cracked right down the middle and flung its
two halves to opposite sides of my kiln (granted, since the cavity is only
8"x8" they didn't fling far). What's REALLY annoying is this...

Is this the right group for enamelling, cloisonne and ginbari discussion? by
Cactus Jammies
A novice, looking at buying a kiln, and was originally wondering if I
can use a form of this enamelling as abalone shell replacement (not
substitute) for musical instrument decoration. But now having read
Karen Cohen's book, I see what a wonderful process enameling can be.
Is this the right group...

problems with glass beads by
oregano
I make glass beads with a torch.
I think i use the wrong wire.
About 30% of them brake later on.
When i melt glass directly on thin copper wire only few are breaking.
I bought it ( the one i use for beads ) from a welding shop and it is
for welding actually.
I dip the wire in kaolin before using...
