MIL much worse... OT by
Kate Dicey
We'll have to go north again at the weekend I'm not sure she'll last
until then. To top everything else they have found a bowel obstruction.
Not sure what, if anything, they can do about this at this stage...
Your prayers for a safe journey and a peaceful pain free outcome will...

Thimbles by
Patti S
I need some thimble recommendations. I love doing hand work, and am
actually working on a project right now that uses lots of blanket
stitching. Trouble is, my finger gets so sore that I have to quit. I
bought one of those fancy, custom made silver thimbles a while ago, but
(even though it's custom...

Here I go (actually working on something) by
Tricia
Okay, I found a roll of this paper like stuff that seems slightly
firmer/thicker than pattern tissue paper that my garment patterns come
printed on -- it waas just hanging out in the closet that serves as my
pantry. Must have been left by someone who previously lived here but
I'm not looking a...

About signing those hug blocks..... by
Leslie & The Furbabies in MO.
I always have a stressful moment when I've finished my block(s) and
have to write my name, etc. on them. I freeze up- hoping I won't
misspell a word (LOL!), write crooked-y, get it all off center or some
letters larger than others, the pen stumble on the threads in the
fabric and make misshapen...

beginner quilt suggestion by
Sara Lorimer
I'm hoping to start on my second quilt this weekend. My first quilt was
a four-rail fence post (I think that's the right term) baby quilt, to be
used as a floormat:
http://ollie.pirate-women.com/quilt.jpg
I liked how quickly it came together, and how forgiving the design is of
sloppiness.
Any...

Foundation scrap idea by
Susan Laity Price
This is an old trick but some of our newer quilters might not be
familiar with the technique. This is how I plan to use the leftovers
from the tree skirt I made yesterday.
The number and size of the foundation pieces can vary. I am giving you
my directions but you can use this technique to make...

OT Another Christmas joke by
KJ
A woman goes to the post office to buy stamps for her Christmas cards.
She says to the clerk, "May I have 50 Christmas stamps?" The clerk says,
"What denomination?" The woman says,
"God help us. Has it come to this?
Give me 6 Catholic, 12 Presbyterian, 10 Lutheran and 22 Baptists."

The Whole Nine Yards - not OT by
Sherry Starr
The phrase, "the whole nine yards" is, in fact, of Scottish origin.......it
involves the great-kilt, and its construction. As You may know, up til the
18th century, the weaving trade was made up of men. The average width for a
bolt of tartan cloth was approximately 30 inches.......the reach of...

Never Cry Wolf by

Every thing that I write here is the gospel truth. Some of you
know me because I have participated in hug quilts.
My name is Donna Munn. I live in Shelton, WA. And there
is something horrible going on in this city and this county. I do
not have the time to say everything, but please, hear me...

Machine quilting by
Phyllis Nilsson
I've never done machine quilting before, always hand sew piecing too.
Have a bad back from 50 years of sitting at keyboards and can't sit at a
sewing machine for many minutes at a time. I'm making a quilt for my
son's new stepdaughter and I'd like to finish it by Christmas. If I
hand quilt it, I...

Questions local shop hops, your experiences and thoughts by
Quiltshophopper
Hey Folks, for the first time, I am actually going to be in town during my
local state-wide shop hop. Before, I have only done online shop hops. I
got a notice from one of the nine shops in my state telling me that in order
to get a passport and block pattern, at each store, I must spend at...

I hate these swap blocks...LOL. I'm working on 36 blocks for a swap (my
last big one for a very long time!), and they each have 9 3D flying
geese units in them. They're so cute, but what a pain to press.
well....I have 11 blocks finished, but there are 25 that remain, and
more than half of those...
