Staining High Fire bases by Mel Owen
Will using Iron Oxide mixed with water and painted on the foot and base of a high fire bisque and glazed bowl stick to the kiln at final cone 6 firing? I want to hide the white of the base.

How much propane? by Alex S
If I am firing stoneware in a propane kiln of 8 cubic feet (something I am thinking about) does anyone have a ball park idea of how much propane might be required per firing? Sort of related to this, and apologies for going over old ground, I am interested in the idea of the "greenest" approach...

Hi Everyone, I got a portable raku kiln a while back and I haven't been able to get good results. I was using a 17 pound propane tank which kept freezing up so I got a 100lb tank yesterday and it just seemed not to get hot enough. I'm wondering if the kiln is in- sufficent. It's a Bracker brand....

Kiln wash keeps peeling off by [email protected]
I am having a heck of a time keeping my kiln wash on my shelves. When they were new, I covered them, and they went along just fine until I added another coat after some of the wash came off the way it should, as in keeping the dripped glaze from sticking to the shelf. I gave them all a good...

Level rims by Mel Owen
Please, I'm a real novice with a newly purchased wheel. I now can make a whole in the center of a 2lb. lump of clay.:) I cannot get a level lip(rim) on my mugs and bowls. What am I doing wrong? I'm going for a 3 week course in June and I don't want to be such a complete novice when I get there.

Hi all My wife has a kiln from Alasdair Kettles at Milnathort, Scotland, she's had it for about 13 years. Not used for a few years and wants to get into it again. Trouble is we can't find the operating instructions, the kiln has two rotary dials one of which has temp markings and the other says %...
