How Fast Should A Trim Saw Run? by
Too_Many_Tools
Hi,
I have an used Rock Rascal that I wish to use to section rocks and
minerals.
It does not currently have a motor.
From reading supply websites, it would seem that a 1/3 hp 1725 motor is
sold for it.

RB Jones
Thank you for your responses so far. To see what I am talking about please
go to this site http://touchwoodrings.com/
The rings are beautiful and not inexpensive. They are works of art in my
view.
Thanks again

Preprogrammed burnouts in a jewelry kiln by
Allen Steen
I have a digital kiln that uses preprogrammed burnouts. They include 5
hour, 8 hour, and 12 hour burnouts. The hold temperature at the end of
each burnout is 900 degrees F.
I can also program my own burnouts.
What do you think of 900 degrees F as a hold temperature for the
preprogrammed burnouts?...

I don't think so by
tambling
Hi out there.
It's a bit quiet just now so here is a little something to look at. I have
just become a grandmother for the first time and my daughter thought I might
like to buy this for the baby. I trust she was joking..................

little jewelers who spend big bucks on advertising by
Paul Wilson
An observation.
A jeweler not far from my house in the Piedmont of North Carolina always
seems to have an ad in The Smithsonian magazine. It's a fine publication.
Once or twice I saw that he had two ads running a few pages apart for his
whimsical bracelets and pendants (simple stuff, sterling, not...

My luck runnith out by
Jack Schmidling
Seems like my wife is not meant to have a silver fork like mine.
The first one developed a fracture in the shank and eventually failed. The
second one ditto on one of the tines and it just fell off when I tried to
solder it.
I suspect the problem is the hodgepodge metal I used so I am now...

No such situation.

Headpins by
Charlie
This might sound really daft, but I'll give it a go. I need to make some
headpins for lampwork beads - they need to be about 4"long and have found
instructions for melting them to make a little ball etc. My question is: I
don't have a torch, could I use a small blowtorch instead? I don't want...

u-channel or rectangular tubing by
MatthewK
I'm looking for a u-channel that is 1/8 x 1/2 x .040 or close. I want
bronze, but brass or steel will do. I've searched everything I have, and
the internet. It seems like a very odd size, if I could find rectangular
tubing an cut off a side that would be great.
I've been thinking of ways to make...

Drilling claws? by
Dreamstalker
Hello all *waves*!
OK, I have an odd question. I recently ran across some wolf claws
(legally obtained by the vendor), and want to make chokers with them. I
made a bear-claw pendant where I wrapped the base of the claw in
leather, but the wolf claws are too small (the ones I have range from
1/2...

I have a titanium plate, removed from my leg that I want to have melted &
shaped into a ring or some other piece of jewelry. Is that asking for a
huge thing from a jeweler or is it econimically feasible?
TIA

Fake turquoise - What is it? by
Andy Dingley
I bought some turquoise at the weekend. Nice looking piece, but I paid
very little and bought it from a retail "shopping mall" fossil shop, so
work it out for yourself.... I'm in the UK BTW, so it's not a local
stone, nor common, and I certainly don't know anything about it myself.
My plan was to...
