baby quilt - various skills, need suggestions by
off kilter [email protected]
Yes, I know I've been here for a while and shouldn't have to ask,
but....well, here I am!
Yet another co-worker of hubby is in the first-time parent mode. His
wife is due in June, and since we (some of the women in the office and
myself) made a quilt for another co-worker, they have asked if I...

Border print fabrics by
Marilyn
I have picked up a print that is to be used as borders and has a
repeat border design going vertical across the WOF. Since I can cut
about 6 borders from the WOF, I'm wondering what is the best way to
separate the borders without sacrificing the width and design of the
adjacent border print.
Any...

OT update by
maryd[_3_]
DH didn't get the job we were hoping for and seemed so promising. My DM
isn't doing well. She is in renal failure with a no dialysis order and has
an infection that caused her temp to spike near 105. Only if she can get
back to walking with a walker she will get to go home. To add to the...

Very OT Car review by
Ginger in CA
I thought I posted this but have not seen it come through yet.
My father turned 90 yrs young last June. A year ago he bought a brand
new Toyota Matrix, saying it is easier for him to get into and out of
that his former car, a Toyota Prius. Now, he may decide to hang up his
driving privilege before...

Bobbin case by

The thread wont go freely around that part where the needle thread catches
it. It snags somewhere and the motor can't overcome it now. The parts are
all clean and still look brand new. :*(
I've very upset..........

OT-State Funeral today for Sir Edmund Hillary by
nzlstar*[_2_]
as i type this
i'm listening to the many tributes to the greatest New Zealander of our time,
perhaps of all time.
a very moving event as state funerals here are few and far between and usually
kept for past prime ministers, leaders in govt or the military. today is an
exception but highly...

Hello,
My name is Robyn, I live in Brisbane, Australia.
I joined the group ages ago but must confess that I have been lurking in the
background.
Best thing I ever did was join this group, I have learnt a lot from all of
you just by reading your comments and the quilts, what can I say but...

Merry Christmas from Mississippi by
Polly Esther[_2_]
From 8,500 gators in the Swamp (who are all decked out in feathered
finery), we send Merry Christmas best wishes. There are thousands of
Canadian guest geese spending their holidays here and it is quite a show.
They stand, quite happily atop the backs of the gators and enjoy the
warmth...

need opinions on Microsafe batting by
Susan Laity Price
During 2008 I will be making HUG size quilts (53 by 70) for the
missionaries supported by our church. Because many of these friends
live in warm climates and areas where washer/dryers are not available
I was considering using a polyester batting rather than my usual
cotton batting. The poly dries...

June Tailor Shape Cut question by
Heidi
Hi
I have been watching Eleanor Burns and noticed she used a ruler with
slots in it to cut strips. I looked on her website and it is a June
Tailor Shape Cut, but there is a Shape Cut and Shape Cut Plus, which
is larger (12x18) as opposed to 12x12, and has slots every 1/4 inch
rather than every 1/2...

it before school started in January. Just barely....finished it...

Needles for heavier weight cotton threads by
Leslie & The Furbabies in MO.
Some weeks ago I started a topic here about Sulky's 12 wt. cotton thread-
which I like very much. I mentioned I was using a size 18 sewing machine
needle with that heavy thread in buttonhole stitching around fused applique.
A few here mentioned whether that size 18 needle was a bit of overkill-...

I want to give a small homemade quilting kit to a relative. She in

If I bought a pattern (like one of those single patterns in a bag),
translated the writing, and gave her both the pattern and the
translation, am I in general breaking copyright...
