Walmart Fabric by
[email protected]
Today my S.O. went to Walmart's and bought fabric. It is all $3.96 a
yard. It looks so thin and the colors are not great. She has purchased
from her quilt store where she takes lessons but thinks the $6-$9 per
yard to much.
What do you think?
My opinion is that if you are going to put in all...

Sewing Summer Clothes by
Bobbie Sews More
I've been busy sewing summer play clothes for GD and teaching her sewing at
the same time. That means, at 12 yr. old the first part of July, she has
been helping me and learning at the same time. This week end we will be
making matching headbands, and maybe quilting material to make a tote...

ME: Dakota Colors? by
Dr. Zachary Smith
I recently purchased a design collection disc from Dakota
Collectibles.
Upon reviewing the design colors, I find that the color names Dakota
specifies (i.e. Dk. Dk. Rust, Blue4, Lt. Green2, etc.) do not
correspond with any of the brands of embroidery threads we currently
have. I checked Dakota's...

OT Good summer books by
Pat in Virginia
A while back, someone here recommended a book: The Guernsey Literary and
Potato Peel Pie Society. I couldn't put it down; I just finished it and
LOVED it! So, thanks.
I had gotten it from Library to read during and after my upcoming Hospital
Adventure, but I've already finished it. Now I need a...

Whatever happened to the Millennium Quilts? by
ally
Popping out of lurkdom....
Around 1999/2000 a bunch of us were madly swapping squares and making
millennium quilts. I got mine finished apart from the binding (which
still isnt done) and I am ashamed to say he has lurked in a large bag
ever since as I didnt have anywhere large enough to put...

NEWBIE Question by
Mignon
Hello! I am brand, spanking new at quilting, and I would like very much to get some advice. Exactly what kind of thread should I use for my first quilting project. It will be a four-patch with a twist, using cotton thread. While exploring the Internet, I see all kinds of threads - 35 wt., 40-wt.,...

Big stitch or utility quilting by
frood
I'd like to try some big stitch or utility quilting (I've heard it called
both) for one of my basted, but unfinished projects. I was going to machine
quilt, but have decided that I won't get the look I want, plus, I enjoyed
hand-quilting that wall hanging I did, and want to do some more.
The quilt...

Her First Quilt by

Today Meg grabbed my scraps off the floor and shoved them under the foot of
the machine, which was unplugged. I showed her how to turn the wheel to sew
the bits together. I think its beautiful!!!
I think I need to start looking for a hand crank machine for her for next
summer. By then she will be...

What a lovely surprise.
I recognised the name 'Wakeman', but didn't think it was you back with

and - sadly - it has made us a bit wary. Hope you can understand. It's
really good to see you. When I have a bit of...

A thread thread... by
Volfie, Owner, GizzMutt Stables
Just thought I'd mention this for what it is worth...
Yesterday, as I was finishing up some UFOs (three done so far!) I needed to
use an spool of thread that I know I've had for at least five years, maybe
as many as eight years, without ever using it before. It's a Coats & Clark
spool and I'm not...

Wacky-wedge quilting by
Shawn
I've been perusing quilting magazine looking for one I liked and could
suggest to DS's and DH that a subscription would make a nice little BD gift.
Came across the June 2003 issue of Quilter's World. They have the
directions in there for a wacky-wedge quilt that is gorgeous. It's called
"Wizard's...
