Festival of Quilts by
Patti
Reporting in, after a day to recover!
The show this year was outstanding. Mind you, some of the 'things'
people call quilts were jaw-dropping!
On the whole, though, there were a thousand or so terrific quilts in the
Open classes; and several wonderful exhibitions of professional work. I...

OT refrigerator cookie recipe by
Polly Esther[_5_]
Here's a plan that went all wrong. Neighbor had back surgery. She's
walking now; I see her creep to the lane and back - very slowly. Thought
I'd take her some home-baked cookies and real lemonade. Did okay with the
lemonade. The cookies were insipid. Gummy on top, nearly nearly burned on...

Dick and Jane Found!!! by
Michele
What a miracle! I am setting up my new sewing room and started going through
all the boxes that had been packed up by the crews of people after the
tornado. A large portion of my fabric stash had been in the attic. The attic
and second floor were missing after the tornado. I opened a box full...

".......This scrappy ( and how!) quilt originated from a design by
Jolyn Olson in Am Patchwork Dec 01 that Butterfly sent me. Wonderful
how a nice stack of older quilting magazines can be such a blessing.

sewing machine table question by
Dr. Quilter
Last weekend went to see the Pfaffs and came home with a Brother NX 200.
DH balked at the prices of the Pfaff I wanted (considering the lower end
ones did not have the features I needed) so we bought this one with the
warranty that if I want to exchange it for a Pfaff within a year I get
the full...

An earlier poster asked a question on free motion quilting so now I have my

the stitch--just by pushing the fabric around? My new Kenmore can drop the
feed dogs but worry abty control the stitch lenghth. Any sites on...

OT; Left over wood project. by

Here is what has been occupying my time, while I plan the Double
Wedding ring quilt for my nieces wedding gift. I had these few boards
of cherry laying around in the basement shop and they called to me
about their need to be moulded into a useful purpose; other than a
stack of boards in the...

Grace under Fire by
Polly Esther[_5_]
Who received the Worst Christmas present? I've received a gaggle of pin
cushions. The cutsey-poo crafty kind. (groan) I don't like pin cushions,
don't use them and do (a whole lot) hate useless clutter. I did an
appropriate amount of ohhh! and ahhh! but it just might be that they get...

Charlotte Yde's books by
Hanne Gottliebsen
Someone just posted a link to Charlotte Yde's homepage, and I went to
have a look. I did see this before, but didn't notice her book page.
Lo and behold, there was the Contemporary Quilts from Scandinavia,
which I saw at a Quilt Festival and didn't get before someone else did
(grrr). A couple of...

The Hoffman Challenge Butterfly wings by
Walnut
Has anyone done this challenge or seen a quilt or even, just one block, done
with those butterfly wings? I have a relative who is getting married, she
loves butterflies, and she wants me to make her a bed size quilt as a
wedding present (by July next summer)with those Hoffman gold and...

OT please sign your posts by
Pat in Virginia
Hello! We've been having some lively
conversations here lately. I do enjoy
the various quilt topics, and some of
the off topic as well. For me, every
post would be even better if it was
signed. Quite a few are not signed
lately. When I send a "real" letter, I
put a return address on the...

I made this bag for the gift exchange we have at our small group's
Christmas party. I have to say this was a real bear to make! The bag
is has a layer of two sided fusible Timtex stabilizer on the sides.
The bottom has TWO layers of Timtex. Sewing that seam to attach the
bottom to the sides...

Am I invisible? by
KI Graham
Or just being ignored?
I was hoping for some feedback about sending quilts to be part of a museum
display, but got no response. I'm trying again before I slink back to my
corner...
I've been asked to submit some quilts to a museum wishing to mount a
display of "religious quilts." Since this is...
