Going to Winnipeg by
Tia Mary
Hi Guys,
I get to go to Winnipeg with DH on Monday for a few days. I have a
needlework friend who lives up there who will show me the LNS and
wondered if anyone could recommend any LQS? Actually, is there anyone
here who lives up there and would be interested in a "meet & greet"? We
will be...

OT - Last night of being solely American... by
Johanna Gibson
Tomorrow I have my British citizenship ceremony (a bit of a
misnomer, since they (we?) are not citizens here, but subjects of the
Queen). So soon, I will have dual nationality, and 2 passports. I
just have to promise not to hurt the Queen or any of her family, and
then I finally get the right to...

Ping: Trish C. by
off kilter quilter
Thank you thank you thank you!! I was able to educate DS on the
differences between US Cadbury and overseas Cadbury - told him the US
stuff sucks, and to always try to get some from either Australia or the
UK grin. Needless to say, he only had a tiny little bit and was back
asking for more. ...

The thread on insuring a quilt got me to thinking. by
Phyllis Nilsson
A few summers ago I saw an old quilt at a yard sale ($50) that looked to
be made of men's wool suits (circa 1920-30). They were all dark fabrics
and I wasn't interested in buying it for that reason. They were just
squares, nothing fancy.
But I was wondering what would be a reasonable amount to...

Grrrr by
Cheryl
I am in the middle of making placemats for my grandma. I picked out the fabrics, and the pattern. Cut out all the pieces for all 4 placemats. Meanwhile, two of the HST's just looked to big. But hey, what do I know? If I was the expert then I would have been the one that wrote the book. I just got...

rotary cutter by
Sara Lorimer
I ran my rotary cutter over a safety pin (I know, I know) and now it has
a tiny nick in it. Consequently, it's not cutting a few threads on every
pass. This is very, very annoying. Can I sharpen it somehow, or do I
need to just get a new blade? The rest of it is still sharp.

Is there a Finish It group for 2006 started? I know there have been ones for
past years. I sure could use some motivation to get things done!

I'm lazy by
KJ
Do any of you know a place that sells bedskirts without a comforter or quilt
with it? I have made a new quilt for our bed, but I do NOT want to make a
bedskirt for it!!! No, you can't make me! I used to get several bedding
catalogues, but no longer.
I have a painter here to paint my bedroom and...

Nancy Crow by

Hi Everyone
Last night I went to a lecture/slide show by Nancy Crow. What a body of
work she has produced. It was very interesting and too broad to give an
adequate report.
She has a new book going to the publisher any day and expected ?February.
For her workshops she apparently wanted 100...

Changing the subject line by
Kathy Applebaum
Seems like it's time again for a friendly reminder to change the subject
line when appropriate. I know how easy it is to forget, because I've
forgotten to do it more times than I like to think about. So tie a string
around your finger (not too tight!) and change a subject line today....

Modifying a block size a very small amount by
Carissa
Hi,
I need to make a block that is 12.5 inches. That way it will be a 12 in
finished size. I have a pattern, and i have made it twice, being super
careful second time around and that thing is only 12 inches... how do I
make it bigger by 1/2 inch? it is a 9 patch variety. I would think I...

Hello from Sandy Foster! by
Mary in Rock Island IL
I got to talk with her this morning as we are sorting out my
acquisition of her extra HP color ink (the black HP #96 is still
available). She reports that she is going through withdrawal while
her computer goes to visit Apple for major intervention.
The good news is that there is talk at her...
