Request re Chinese lacquer furniture by
Smokey
Long ago, a friend gave me three pieces of gorgeous miniature dining room
furniture that were black, sort of like Chinese lacquer, with an Oriental
design painted on them in several colors. They were exquisite. I think she
bought them at Horchow or Gump's. Definitely not toys. I would love...

An after-the fact introduction by
Cathy Weeks
Ok,
I thought I'd give you a bit of background now that many of you have
answered my zillions of questions. :-)
My mother went to dental school when I was 9 years old, and the summer
I was 10 (1979) she had to spend that summer in school. It was our
first summer that she wasn't going to be...

Wiring/Lighting by
Carli Groven
Hi, does anyone know of a website or book (or SOMETHING) that describes in
detail (for DUMMIES like me - hehehe) how to wire a dollhouse? I have never
attempted this and would like to read up on it before jumping in. Seriously
guys, I don't even know what eyelets and brads are, let alone what to...

Has anyone ever built a dollhouse for a boy? Are the cabins more for
boys? How were they decorated?

where's everyone gone? by
Glen Sayers
Not meant as a negative comment. This forum used to be busy so I assume
you've all moved somewhere. Can someone tell where? I'm building a dollhouse
and can't find an appropriate community to share.
cheers

what did you get for the holidays? by
Dawn
Anyone fortunate enough to receive any miniatures-related gifts this
year? Alas, I did not (though there were some other hobby gifts) but I'd
be interested in hearing if others did. :)

Photos of the mosaic tile floor, plus a write-up. by
Cathy Weeks
http://www.weeksfamily.net/dollhouse/mosaic.html
So...do you think I should grout the floor or leave it alone? I think
it's pretty as it is, but grouting would be more realistic, and would
give it a more finished look. I can't decide.

Warped floor - how to flatten? by
Cathy Weeks
The first coffee stirrer floor is done. Stained, polyurethaned, etc.
Looks great. Only problem...it's fairly warped in places, despite
being flattened by books at various points, and the pushpins that held
it flat while being polyurethaned.
I thought about just weighing it down for a week or so,...

Possible supply source by

I get a wooden ship model kit catalog from a company called Model Expo
(www.modelexpo.com). They have a large variety of scale wood dowels, woods
strips, wood sheets, various metal tubing and rods, etc. They have a
decorative metal fittings that would work for picture frames, mirrors, etc.
They...

Does anyone recognize this dollhouse? by
Abby G.
This dollhouse was a Christmas gift in I believe 1964 so the dollhouse
was manufactured on or around then. Does anyone know who made this,
what it is called, etc.? I would love to find one today and buy it. I
have looked extensively on EBay and elsewhere with no luck....

A 5,000 year old dollhouse by
J. Burg
Hello,
I recently built a dollhouse,(I suppose "action figure adventure
structure" would be more appropriate),for my son. It's nothing
spectacular but it is a little different than what you're used to
seeing. Just click on the link below.
Enjoy,
Jim

Newbies by
Thomas Mitchell
Hello all,
My wife and I are new to the dollhouse craft. She's been into crafts for
a while but hasn't found one that she's settled on. I suggested she try
making a dollhouse since she is a perfectionist type and will spend a
lot of time on the details.
We ordered a kit to start with, ie, the...
