Wear Of Fused Cast AZS Block In The Superstructure And Crown by
Sunriserefractory
In the past, wear of superstructure refractories, primarily silica crowns, is probably the most serious concern. Fused cast AZS block has been suggested as an alternative to the traditional silica crown as it has good corrosion against and can slow the wear of superstructure and improve the life of...

Weatherproofing copper foil...? by
Kris Krieger
Hi,
I want to make sme fixtures for outdoors. I'm doing copper foil. Can the
patina and whatnot be weatherproofed in any way? I thought about paste-
waxing the lead lines, or lacquering the whoel assembly, but any info would
be great.
Thanks!

Wet belt sander surface speed by
David Billington
I know this is a pet subject of some at the moment but I thought I
would ask a tech question about them. I have been asked to repair what I
believe to be an Essemce wet belt linisher, it currently runs at about
18m/s (60ft/s) and the owner has said this is overheating the glass edge
and causing it...

Wet belt sander update by
David Billington
Thanks for the comments all, you were quite right the issue with the
unit was most likely too little water as now it's back together and good
water flow all is working fine with the belt speed as it was. In the end
I made a new lower wheel support and shaft assembly as the originals
were deemed not...

Whaddya callit? by
Moonraker
As many of you know, I do on-site repairs of leaded doors and windows. One
of the more difficult things I deal with is trying to elicit descriptions
from the homeowner as to what type(s) of glass is broken. One of the
toughest things is getting them to identify a bevel. All they seem to be
